    Abstract: A body fluid sampling system is provided for use on a tissue site. A drive force generator is provided. A housing has at least a first handle portion with a first average diameter, and a head portion with a second average diameter that is larger than the first average diameter. The housing includes a plurality of analyte sensors and a plurality of sample chambers. Each analyte sensor is associated with a sample chamber and is configured to receive body fluid from a wound in tissue created by a penetrating member. A plurality of penetrating members are operatively coupled to the drive force generator. The drive force generator moves each of the penetrating members along a path out of the housing into the tissue site, stops in the tissue site, and withdraws out of the tissue site. Each penetrating member is at least partially positioned adjacent to an analyte sensor in a sample chamber. A user interface is included.

    Abstract: A diverter (170, 270) atop the upper wall (110) of a cartridge (100) and over the opening (114, 115) therein avoids direct access of urine to the opening and the sealant (105) within the cartridge. The diverter is spaced by standoffs (182, 282) from the upper wall to provide a urine flow passage. A float (274) can be incorporated in the diverter to provide a visible signal of the presence of collected urine on the cartridge upper wall. A pre-treatment chemically-constituted tablet (210) held by a retainer (200) in the diverter provides sanitizing and/or deodorizing means. Post-treatment chemically-constituted tablets (224a) or pellets (224b) placeable at the outlet of the cartridge protect the drain pipe from corrosion and other harm.

    Abstract: In a urine cartridge, equalized pressures and increased flow rate between its inlet and outlet compartments increases the life of the cartridge. The pressure equalizing is effected by placement of a separator between the two compartments to provide them with substantially equal volumes. The increased flow rate is created by a uniquely configured baffle positioned adjacent a pan at the bottom of the cartridge. The baffle configuration is shaped to provide a constriction that increases the flow velocity of the urine so that the fluid flow effects a channel along the bottom pan and through any solids deposited on the bottom pan. A diverter may be placed above the centrally located entry to the inlet compartment to create a circuitous path for preventing a disturbing impingement of the urine onto the sealant contained in the inlet compartment.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are described for preparing, maintaining, and stabilizing sensors. The apparatus and methods for preparing sensors for use are utilized in advance of the sensor being removed from a sealed, sterilized package. The apparatus include packaging materials having electrical circuits capable of stabilizing a sensor to prepare the sensor for use. The methods for preparing a sensor for use includes methods of providing a solution to a sterilized packaging that contains a sensor connected to a sensor activating circuit, activating the circuit, and allowing the sensor to stabilize. These methods can be performed without compromising the packaging. The apparatus for stabilizing a sensor that is in use include a circuit connectable to the sensor that provides a signal to the sensor that prevents the sensor from becoming destabilized when disconnected from a monitoring device.

An air vent avoids the buildup of suction in the primary reservoir.

The subpixel repeating group comprises at least one white subpixel and a plurality of colored subpixels. The subpixel rendering circuitry multiplies data values of a spatial portion of the input image data by at least one image filter kernel which comprises a matrix of coefficients arranged such that each coefficient represents a fractional part of one of said data values of said spatial portion of said input image data. The subpixel rendering circuitry is further configured to sharpen the output luminance values using a luminance signal.

    Abstract: An indicator that the cartridge is draining slowly is placed on top of the cartridge. When slow draining causes urine to pool on top of the cartridge, liquid enters a float housing, causing an indicator to change color. The indicator is visible through a lens in a diverter. The indicator may be a disk that undergoes a chemical reaction to change color or a float that flips over to reveal a side having a different color. When the cartridge is operating properly, the float displays a first color. Flipping of the float reveals a second color to the observer. A color change indicates that the cartridge needs to be replaced.

    Abstract: Sub-pixel rendering with gamma adjustment allows the luminance of the sub-pixel arrangement to match the non-linear gamma response of the human eye's luminance channel. For each of a subset of input sampled data indicating a region of an input image, a gamma-adjusted data value is generated for each input image data value in the subset using a local average of at least two input image data values. A sub-pixel rendering operation uses the subset of gamma-adjusted data values and the subset of input image data values to produce an output data value for each sub-pixel element on the display panel. A plurality of output data values collectively indicates an output image. The gamma adjustment allows the sub-pixel rendering to operate independently of the actual gamma of a display device. The sub-pixel rendering techniques with gamma adjustment may improve image contrast in high spatial frequency portions of an image.

    Abstract: An aircraft designed with three wings located on either side of the fuselage. The forward wing has a downward angle with a curved top and bottom surface. The upper wing is located towards the rear of the aircraft and above the forward wing. The lower wing is located below the upper wing and slightly forward. It is also located to the rear and below of the forward wing. The outer ends of all three wings come into contact at one point. The forward wing uses the Coanda effect to increase the airflow across the top surface of the bottom wing. The aircraft can be designed so that it is large enough to carry people and/or cargo, or to be small enough to be flown as a toy aircraft. The like design can use any type of aircraft engine commonly used today. One embodiment of the aircraft has two turbines, shaft-coupled to a power source, located on either side of the forward end of the fuselage.
