  • Patent number: 9038586
Abstract: A durable system is disclosed for controlling variable valve actuation of an engine valve corresponding to a cylinder of an automobile engine. The system is designed to have a durability that exceeds the expected life of a conventional automobile engine. The system includes first crowned cam having a first lift profile, a second crowned cam having a second lift profile, and a rocker arm assembly. The rocker assembly includes a first arm having an end connected to said engine valve, having a high impact roller following the first crowned cam operating the engine valves according to a first lift profile. The rocker arm assembly also includes a second arm having slider pads riding on the second crowned cam to operate said engine valve according to a second lift profile. The slider pads have a sliding surface covered with an impact-resistant multilayer coating with its outermost coating being a wear-resistant coating.

  • Patent number: 7694207
Abstract: A method of correcting a communication signal with BCH product codes is disclosed. The method comprising the steps of receiving a codeword vector, establishing a generator polynomial, establishing a check polynomial, calculating a binary-matrix, and calculating the binary syndrome S=Hrt. If an all zero vector results, no errors exist in the received vector. If errors exist, a tm x (N?k) binary matrix is created, the power basis expansion of (r(?1), r(?3), r(?5), . . . r(?2t?1)) is calculated, and the syndrome is solved. The speed of the method comes from using word-level XOR's to apply the check polynomial to the stream at all offsets. The utility of this approach is due in part to the fact that the conversion matrix involved can be created quickly using only items needed elsewhere in BCH decoders: a field table and the generator polynomial coefficients.

  • Publication number: 20070239528
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for dynamic network address identification and replacement for delivering a web page to a data processing device associated with a customer, for performing a marketing campaign on behalf of an advertiser. A browser request message is received over a data network from a browser program executing on the data processing device. The browser request message requests an origin web page at an origin web site on the data network. The origin web site is associated with the advertiser. A network address of the origin web site on the data network is determined. Responsive to the browser request message, content of the origin web page is retrieved from the origin web site at the determined network address. A network address is located in the retrieved content of the origin web page. The located network address is replaced with a proxy network address to define a modified web page.

  • Publication number: 20060074747
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for performing a marketing campaign on behalf of an advertiser. A plurality of electronic publishers are in communication with a data network. The advertiser has an associated computer also in communication with the data network. An advertising apparatus, in one aspect of the present invention, includes one or more engines. A user interface engine is configured to interact with the advertiser computer over the data network for generating a budget amount, marketing campaign parameters associated with and defining the marketing campaign, and information describing the marketing campaign. A campaign allocation engine is configured to allocate the budget amount among the electronic publishers based on the generated marketing campaign parameters and publisher parameters associated with the electronic publishers.

  • Publication number: 20060074749
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for allocating a campaign budget among a plurality of electronic publishers for performing a marketing campaign on behalf of an advertiser. The advertiser has an associated computer in communication with a data network. In one aspect, the method includes providing a budget amount for the marketing campaign. A plurality of parameters defining the marketing campaign are also provided. These parameters include marketing campaign parameters associated with the marketing campaign, and publisher parameters associated with the electronic publishers. The publisher parameters include a minimum campaign spend amount and a maximum campaign spend amount for each electronic publisher. Certain ones of the electronic publishers are selected. The budget amount is allocated among the electronic publishers according to at least one of a plurality of allocation rules, to define an allocated budget.

  • Publication number: 20060074746
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for tracking and reporting campaign status information for an advertiser having an associated computer in communication with a data network. The campaign status information describes the progress of a marketing campaign performed on behalf of the advertiser using a plurality of electronic publishers in communication with the data network. In one aspect, the method includes determining an amount spent on or for each of the electronic publishers. Campaign event information is determined for the marketing campaign. An electronic report can be prepared, including a compilation of one or more of the determined amount spent and campaign event information. The electronic report can be provided for the advertiser computer over the data network.

  • Publication number: 20060074748
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for generating advertisement information for performing a marketing campaign on behalf of an advertiser. The advertiser has an associated computer in communication with a data network. A plurality of electronic publishers in communication with the data network are used. In one aspect, the method includes receiving, over the data network, information describing subject matter of the marketing campaign. Advertisement information is generated based on the received information describing the marketing campaign subject matter. A plurality of instantiations of the advertisement information are generated using publisher parameters associated with the electronic publishers. Each instantiation is in a format appropriate for a respective one of the electronic publishers. At least one of the generated instantiations is provided to the respective electronic publisher over the data network.

  • Publication number: 20060074751
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for dynamically rendering an advertiser web page as a proxied web page associated with an online marketing campaign on behalf of an advertiser. The advertiser has an associated computer in communication with a data network. The method is performed for customizing data presented to a customer having a computer in communication with the data network without requiring intervention by the advertiser. In one aspect, the method includes providing the advertiser web page on a processor-readable storage medium in communication with the data network. A request is received on behalf of the customer for the advertiser web page. Responsive to the customer request, the advertiser web page is retrieved from the processor-readable storage medium. The advertiser web page is dynamically edited to produce the proxied web page. The proxied web page is provided over the data network for the customer computer.

  • Patent number: 6878349
Abstract: A pollution control apparatus and method reduces contaminants, such as NOx and SOx pollutants, from an effluent gas stream. The pollution control device includes a resonance chamber that ionizes the effluent gas stream. The contaminants of the effluent gas stream are destroyed in a non-thermal plasma reactor. The effluent gas is then cooled in a cooling unit to substantially place the effluent gas in a non-excited state prior to releasing the effluent gas into the environment or re-injecting the effluent gas into the source of the effluent gas. Re-association of the radical oxides into harmful pollutants is thereby substantially prevented.

  • Patent number: 4895370
Abstract: A random number selection device (10) is provided with a support base (20) having a pair of extending substantially parallel arms (22) between which a hollow container (30) is rotatably mounted. Within container (30) there is provided a plurality of balls (15) each having indicia (17) representing a different numeric symbol to provide a random selection of digits. Coupled to container (30) there is provided, ball distributor (40) having a sliding actuator (42) with a plurality of partitions integrally formed thereon to define queuing spaces (50) therebetween. Ball receiving housing (46) having a plurality of integrally formed partitions (48), defining ball receiving chambers (45) is coupled to a tubular housing (44) of distributor (40). Sliding actuator (42) is biased in a first position by a spring (49), in this position partitions (43 and 48) cooperate to prevent balls (15A) located in queuing spaces (50), when container (30) is inverted, from entering the respective ball receiving chambers (45).
