  • Patent number: 8706769
Abstract: A temporal target table stored on a computer is scanned using the computer. The temporal target table has a ValidTime dimension and a value dimension. A qualifying-row having a value dimension having a value equal to a value of a value dimension in a row-to-be-inserted is found during the scanning. The row-to-be-inserted has a ValidTime dimension and the value dimension. The qualifying-row is processed. The row-to-be-inserted is inserted in the temporal target table. A ValidTime dimension of the inserted row-to-be-inserted is set to be as the union of the ValidTime dimension of the row-to-be-inserted and the ValidTime dimension of the qualifying-row.

  • Publication number: 20140032614
Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods may operate to receive a request to move at least a portion of a database table stored on a tangible medium from a current partition to a history partition, wherein the database table is partitioned into physical partitions according to a selected mapping update frequency. In response to receiving the request, activities may include modifying a logical partitioning of the database table by updating a mapping of the physical partitions to logical partitions. Other apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8544420
Abstract: A dog leash having a stiffener and a mast, the latter connected to a clamp by a flexible coupling. Moored to the clamp by a cord, the stiffener protrudes outwardly from the mast's end distal from the clamp. Built up by encasing a cord segment and the base of a clip in a semi-rigid plastic sheath, the stiffener directly links the clip to the mast. Because, in use, the stiffener and the clip ride attached to the dog's collar without slapping or flopping around randomly so as to confuse the animal, the leash can transmit nonverbal communication free of extraneous signals from the user of a personal carrier to a tethered dog. The dog can be then trained quickly and easily controlled, making possible the leash's use not only on bicycles but also, once they have been retrofitted with a universal mounting bracket, on wheelchairs and other personal carriers.

  • Patent number: 8375351
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide an IDE tool that provides rapid application development features for a variety of disparate data sources. Further, developers may customize and extend the rapid application development features to suit their development needs in a particular case. In a particular embodiment, the rapid application development template may be configured to generate a set of configuration files localized used to deploy a “lightweight” application, such as a web-service, to a particular application server.

  • Patent number: 8352911
Abstract: Techniques for constructing and using run-time JAVA Archive (JAR) files for JAVA Stored Procedures (JSPs) are provided. JSP methods referenced by an application via a plurality of different JAR files are extracted and packed into a single packed JAR file. When the application tries to execute a JSP, the attempt to process the JSP methods is redirected to a new JSP that calls the single packed JAR file.

  • Patent number: 8275800
Abstract: A spatial feature is considered for storage in a database system running on a computer. The spatial feature includes a polygon, P. The polygon includes an outer ring, OR, and the area within the outer ring. The polygon includes an interior ring contained within the polygon. The computer removes the interior ring from the polygon. The computer determines a line along which to split the polygon without regard for the location of the inner ring within the polygon. The computer splits the polygon into two polygons, SP1 and SP2, along the line. The computer applies the interior ring to the two split polygons by invoking a point set difference between the interior ring and the two split polygons. The computer stores the split polygons in the database system on the computer.

  • Publication number: 20120130963
Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods may operate to retrieve multiple rows of a database in response to receiving a request to execute an aggregate user defined function (UDF) over the multiple rows, to sort each of the multiple rows into common groups, grouping together individual ones of the multiple rows that share one of the common groups, and to send UDF execution requests to apply the aggregate UDF to aggregate buffers of the common groups to produce an aggregate result, so that one of the UDF execution requests and one context switch are used to process each of the aggregate buffers used within one of the groups to provide at least one intermediate result that can be processed to form the aggregate result. Other apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7908860
Abstract: For an internal combustion engine having two cylinder banks forming a V-shaped cylinder block, a turbocharger system including a high pressure turbocharger disposed in a valley between the cylinder banks, a first low-pressure turbocharger disposed adjacent an outer side of one of the cylinder banks, and a second low-pressure turbocharger disposed adjacent an outer side of the second cylinder bank. Intake and exhaust ducts connect the components of the engine and turbocharger system to and electronically controlled valves associated with the ducts permit the system to operate either in a split series mode or a low-pressure-only mode.

  • Publication number: 20090210103
Abstract: A method is provided whereby airplanes or any device with the functionality and usefulness of an airplane may be controlled without the use of any traditional effectors, such as flaps, rudders, ailerons, spoilers, and all like hinged, moveable airfoils attached to a wing or a fuselage. The means of controlling such airplanes while in flight will be by controlling the laminar air flow over all lifting surfaces so as to vary the amount and quality of the lift provided. All lifting surfaces on the airplane will be divided into dozens, hundreds, or thousands of small zones, each of which can be readily controlled by a central flight computer and each of which is capable of modifying its immediate airflow condition, whether that be laminar flow or some particular degree and variety of local eddy current.

  • Patent number: 7523892
Abstract: A method of launching space vehicles by towing them aloft, then twirling them around a large transport aircraft (40) at the center of a formation (AA) of other tow aircraft (28, 34) and other devices of the invention. A lengthy, semi-rigid tow pipeline (14) serves as a conduit for the transfer of fuels and oxidizers, as the tow cable, and as an energy storage device that reflexes efficiently when it is flexed. The flexing of tow pipeline (14) is caused by a parachute (22) acting in conjunction with all the aircraft making the tighest turn they are capable of doing. Tow aircraft in certain arrays (28) are joined to tow pipeline (14) by sliding trollies (26) that also host canard rotor wings for the aerodynamic support of the main tube (12). The tow trollies (26) aid the sliding tow aircraft arrays (28) in gaining mechanical advantage to accelerate the space vehicle.
