Publication number: 20240167844Abstract: A method and system for determining a geographical location and orientation of a vehicle travelling through a road network is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining, from one or more cameras associated with the vehicle travelling through the road network, a sequence of images reflecting the environment of the road network on which the vehicle is travelling, wherein each of the images has an associated camera location at which the image was recorded. A local map representation representing an area of the road network on which the vehicle is travelling is then generated using at least some of the obtained images and the associated camera locations. The generated local map representation is compared with a section of a reference map, the reference map section covering the area of the road network on which the vehicle is travelling, and the geographical location and orientation of the vehicle within the road network is determined based on the comparison.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2023Publication date: May 23, 2024Inventors: Tinosch Kolagheichi-Ganjineh, Philipp Holzschneider, Dimitri Schachmann, Sergej Mann, Sebastian Ihlefeld, Michael Hofmann, Olaf Booij, Nicolau Leal Werneck

Publication number: 20230086892Abstract: Various embodiments include a thermal storage system for storing energy in a graphite thermal storage structure and a thermal shutter assembly configured to control the transmission of heat from the graphite thermal storage structure to a thermal energy receiver, such as a heat exchanger or material processing crucible. A thermal storage block, which may be made of graphite, may be isolated by insulation except for the thermal shutter assembly. Energy may be stored in the graphite thermal storage block by applying energy to the block to raise its temperature to maximum operation temperature. Stored energy may then be harvested in a controlled manner by a control system actuating the thermal shutter to expose the thermal energy receiver to thermal radiation.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2022Publication date: March 23, 2023Inventors: Andrew Cameron ROBERTSON, Harold Edwin DITTMER, Gary Alan FRANZEN, Timothy Michael MANN

Patent number: 9608988Abstract: Methods and systems for authenticating a security device for providing a secure access and transaction authorization to a remote network location are provided. The security device is authenticated by installing private security software on the security device. In order to authorize a transaction, a transaction authorization is performed using the security device by display a QR (Quick Response) code from an authorization server on a user terminal and scanning the QR code into the security device. After scanning the QR code, an OTA (One-Time-Authorization) code is sent from the security device to the authorization server for verifying the transaction. Embodiments of the present invention provide increased security and privacy. A corresponding system for authenticating a security device and preforming secure and private transactions is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2015Date of Patent: March 28, 2017Assignee: INBAY TECHNOLOGIES INC.Inventors: Randy Kuang, Stanislus Kisito Xavier, David Michael Mann, He Zhu, Yiwen Wang, Yuebin Ding
