  • Patent number: 10028244
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to support hypernumber portability for a hypernumber number corresponding to an electronic device. The electronic device may include an installed application to facilitate hypernumber portability. To this end, when the electronic devices connects to a wireless network, the electronic device may request a vehicle identification. If the wireless network is a vehicle-based network, the electronic device may receive the vehicle identification from an on-board node. When the received vehicle identification indicates that the electronic device has changed locations, the electronic device may communicate with a hypernumber database and/or a hypernumber server to update a dynamic phonebook. As a result, as the electronic device traverses a transport network, the dynamic phonebook may maintain updated location and call routing information for the electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20170295154
Abstract: Techniques for authenticating client applications to services and/or applications that are provided within an environment that may become disconnected, as a whole, from other networks (e.g., on-board a vehicle) may include receiving an indication of a local service that may be provided within the dis-connectable environment, and authenticating/registering the local service. A request for service(s) may be received from a client application within the dis-connectable environment, and the client application may be authenticated/authorized to access one or more local services. An indication of a session key may be provided to the local service provider and to the authenticated/authorized client application for use in establishing a secure connection therebetween, thereby providing the client application access to the registered local service.

  • Publication number: 20170295094
Abstract: Techniques for providing access control in environments that may become disconnected, as a whole, from other networks (e.g., on-board a vehicle) may include locally storing access control information within the dis-connectable environment, and locally providing discovery and authentication/authorization services. Local services and/or applications may be registered and authenticated and client applications may be authenticated and/or authorized to one or more locally provided services and/or applications even when the environment is in a disconnected state. Local access control information may be synchronized with source access control information stored externally to the environment (e.g., on the ground).

  • Patent number: 9784388
Abstract: An electrically grounded wear resistant liner is described that inserts into a conventional frac sand delivery conduit. The liner allows for conveyance of highly abrasive materials through the liner and conduit while electrically grounding potential static build up from within the liner. Sand, cement and other abrasive slurries may be conveyed through the liner. The wear resistant liner extends the amount of time that the conduit may be used to convey materials without downtime for replacement and repairs. The liner further provides a tri layer construction that includes a middle layer having a color notably different than the outer and inner layers, allowing a user in the fields to quickly determine that the conduit should be replaced.

  • Patent number: 9573040
Abstract: A golf swing training apparatus to be used exclusively in the short game of golf to provide a first audible clicking sound when the golfer cocks his wrists and a second audible clicking sound when the golfer releases the club head. The training aid includes a base having a clamping mechanism for attaching the apparatus to the end of the grip of a golf club and a click generating mechanism including a spring having a free end which engages an actuator during the cocking of the wrist and flexes to generate the first audible click and again the second audible click when the flex of the spring relaxes during the release of the club head.

  • Patent number: 9490892
Abstract: A sentry engine determines, based on current conditions and a set of rules, whether or not to allow a feature, that is provided in a terrestrial environment to the wireless device, to be provided to the wireless device on-board a vehicle in a non-terrestrial environment. The sentry engine may be disposed in the wireless device, in an on-board data delivery device fixedly connected to the vehicle, and/or at a ground network in communication with the on-board data delivery device and the home network of the wireless device. The on-board data delivery device may communicate with the wireless device via an on-board local network, and may communicate with the ground network using a satellite network and/or an air-to-ground network. Allowance conditions may include operational and/or connectional states of devices and/or networks, a vehicle state, a roaming or authorization state of the wireless device, or a state of the feature.

  • Patent number: 8491999
Abstract: The present invention provides electrodes comprised of metal-coated vertically aligned carbon nanofibers. Arrays of vertically aligned carbon nanofibers provide highly accessible, high density templates having large electrochemically active surface areas that may be modified to further increase the surface area of the nanofibers. The methods of the present invention involve functionalizing the surface of the nanofibers and coating the functionalized surface with metal using electroless deposition. The resulting metal-coated nanofibers form highly stable and highly reproducible electrodes having very high surface areas. The electrodes of the present invention are expected to be useful in a variety of applications, including high-density energy storage, i.e., supercapacitors and fuel cells.

  • Patent number: 7879016
Abstract: A drainable ostomy pouch having sidewalls of flexible sheet material defining a cavity therebetween and a downwardly-extending neck portion terminating in a discharge opening that is closed by folding the neck portion upwardly and opened by unfolding the neck portion downwardly. Each of the sidewalls of the neck portion is provided with a transversely-extending bias member that is formed of stiff but flexible, springlike plastic material. The bias members are normally flat so as to be in straight parallel closed condition but are openable under inwardly-directed finger pressure applied to their opposite ends to cause them to bow outwardly away from each other.

  • Publication number: 20050259302
Abstract: An illumination panel for illuminating an object, comprising a substrate, a light diffractive grating and a light source. The substrate is made from an optically transparent material having first and second area surfaces disposed substantially parallel to each other and a light input surface for conducting a light beam into the substrate. The light diffractive grating is mounted to the first areal surface and has a slanted fringe structure embodied therein for diffracting the light beam falling incident thereto, along a first diffractive order of the slanted fringe structure. The light source produces a light beam for transmission through the input surface and direct passage through the substrate to the slanted fringe structure so as to produce an output light beam of areal extent that emerges from either the first or second areal surface along the first diffractive order, for use in illuminating an object.
