  • Patent number: 6048486
Abstract: In a process for forming contours in aramide flat structures, in particular textile flat structures made from aramide fibers, contouring is performed by molding in a temperature range of 180-300.degree. C. and a press pressure range of 4-8 bar (400-800 kPa). The flat structures contoured by molding are suited in particular for the manufacture of antiballistic women's protective clothing as well as of antiballistic helmets. The effectiveness against penetration of bullets and splinters is not affected by the molding process.

  • Patent number: 6034004
Abstract: Protective clothing comprising one protective layer or a plurality of protective layers superimposed on and optionally joined to one another may contain textile flat structures made from antiballistically acting fibers, wherein the protective layers contain contoured shapes for fitting to body shapes imparted by a molding process that is conducted without the concurrent use of a resin. The protective clothing may also contain one or more cover layers. Bulges are formed in the protective layer and optionally the cover layers by the molding process in order to produce a better fit, particularly in the bust region. Protective clothing manufactured in this way offers an agreeable degree of comfort and is particularly intended for female police, military and other security personnel.

  • Patent number: 6020544
Abstract: A piano includes an underlever assembly having an underlever arm and an underlever support joining the underlever arm to a string damper. The underlever arm is mounted to move between an at-rest position and a second position. A latch is mounted to a latch mount for movement between non-latching and latching positions. In latching position, the latch engages a latch surface of the underlever support to maintain the string damper spaced from a corresponding piano string. A stop mounted to the latch mount limits movement of the underlever arm toward its second position. A method for controlling a piano string damper includes contacting the underlever arm with the latch to maintain the string damper spaced from the string, and contacting the underlever arm with the stop to limit movement of the underlever arm.

  • Patent number: 5554656
Abstract: The invention relates to a disinfectant concentrate which contains amine and alcohol wherein the alcohol component includes at least one glycol ether of limited miscibility with water and the amine component includes at least one secondary and/or tertiary alkyl amine free from hydroxyl groups. It also relates to a disinfectant producabile from the disinfectant concentrate, the use of the disinfectant concentrate and of the disinfectant as bactericide, in particular mycobactericide, fungicide or virucide.

  • Patent number: 5517894
Abstract: The invention relates to an explosion-proof mat for protecting structures that enclose occupant accommodations in vehicles. The mat has several layers of textile impact-resistant sheet saturated with impregnating material and conforming to the shape of the accommodation-enclosing structure. The impregnating material is flexible after curing. A rigid sheet of composite is embedded between two inner layers of the textile sheets.

  • Patent number: 5496858
Abstract: Aqueous disinfectant concentrate which includes succinic dialdehyde, glutaraldehyde and/or formaldehyde, one or more alcohols of limited water miscibility and optionally usual auxiliaries. By diluting with water, a working solution can be prepared from the concentrate. The advantages of the new disinfectant concentrate or disinfectant are the reduced development of odor, an improved material compatibility, an improved microbicidal effectiveness and a clearly increased storage-stability. Furthermore, the activation usual up until now with disinfectants based on aldehyde is superfluous. Preferred application fields are surface and instrument disinfection.

  • Patent number: 5387605
Abstract: The use of carboxylic acids for controlling mycobacteria is described. The carboxylic acids contain compounds with the general formula: ##STR1## in which A is a substituted or unsubstituted Cs-Clo aryl group, A containing no nitrogen atom,R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each independently of one other are hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl group,m is 0 or 1 andn is a number from 0 to 5,and no alkyl sulphonates or alkyl sulphates are present.Said active ingredients may be used in the form of aqueous and/or alcoholic ready-for-use solutions or may be present in the form of concentrates, powders or granular products or applied to a support such as a cloth. Formulations based on said carboxylic acids may also contain other bactericidal active ingredients, synergistic effects arising in some cases.

  • Patent number: 4920823
Abstract: In known rotary knobs, an intermediate part and a universal joint are arranged between a base member and a switching handle that can be connected thereto for compensating position deviations between the longitudinal axes of the base member of the rotary knob and of an actuation shaft of a control device or the like. The new rotary knob can be manufactured and mounted in a simplified manner and can satisfactorily compensate for position deviations. The switching handle can be connected to the base member essentially so as to be locked against rotation and the base member has a bearing part with snapping means for a connection with a housing part. The rotary knob can be used, for example, on front sides or operating desks of domestic apparatuses or for operating program control devices.
