  • Publication number: 20170370808
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for analysis of a leading edge rib of a fixed leading edge section of an aircraft wing. The apparatus may identify geometric or inertial properties of a plurality of stiffeners of the rib in which respective stiffeners are represented by a collection of geometry within a solid model of the rib, and perform an analysis to predict a failure rate of the leading edge rib under an external load. From the failure rate, the apparatus may determine a structural integrity of the leading edge rib under the external load. Identifying the properties may include, extracting a section cut of the geometry that corresponds to and has one or more properties of the respective stiffener, and identifying the properties of the cross-section and thereby the respective stiffener based on a correlation of the cross-section to a generic profile of a plurality of different cross-sections.

  • Publication number: 20170205794
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for performing stability analysis for a digital motor controller includes receiving a reference signal to be injected into a digital speed control loop and controlling, by a hardware description language (VHDL) component, the injection of the reference signal into the digital control loop through a field programmable gate array (FPGA) hardware interface. The method also includes providing the reference signal to the digital speed control loop to determine a performance of the digital motor controller and receiving a feedback signal, at the FPGA hardware interface, from the digital speed control loop based on the reference signal. The method includes comparing the reference signal to the feedback signal to evaluate the performance of the digital motor controller and exporting a result of the comparing by the FPGA hardware interface to indicate the performance of the digital motor controller.

  • Publication number: 20170189877
Abstract: A dual bed pyrolysis system may include a falling bed reactor employing a heat carrier particulate to pyrolyze biomass to create a pyrolysis product and a pyrolysis waste product. The dual bed pyrolysis system may also include a fluidized bed reactor. The fluidized bed reactor may accept the pyrolysis waste product including char and heat carrier particulate from the falling bed reactor. The fluidized bed reactor may combust the char in the presence of the heat carrier particulate. The fluidized bed reactor may combust the char to reheat the heat carrier particulate. • Patent number: 8751309
Abstract: Techniques for distributing messages to consumers on behalf of promoters. In some embodiments, once a message is provided to a message distribution system to be distributed to consumers on behalf of promoters, the message distribution system may determine the consumers to which to distribute the message based on the personal interest identifiers for the consumers that identify personal interests of the consumers. In particular, in some embodiments, a message distribution system may determine a topic for a message and personal interest identifiers for the message that correspond to personal interest identifiers input by consumers. Once the set of personal interest identifiers for the message has been identified, a set of consumers who have input one or more of those personal interest identifiers is identified. The message may then be made available to the identified set of consumers.

  • Patent number: 7056567
Abstract: A fiber-reinforced composite structure has two molded outer polymeric layers spaced apart from each other and defining a cavity therebetween. Each molded outer polymeric layer defines a sealing surface extending about a periphery of the respective layer, and the opposing sealing surfaces cooperate to define a hermetic seal extending about a periphery of the cavity. One or more multi-directional fiber reinforcement layers are adhesively attached in a discontinuous manner to each outer polymeric layer, and define a first region of the cavity extending between each respective outer polymeric layer and adjacent fiber reinforcement layer, and a second region of the cavity extending between the fiber reinforcement layers. A core is located between the two outer polymeric layers, and is made of a resinous core material capable of exhibiting a foamed character and a resinous character.

  • Patent number: 6849422
Abstract: A system and method for analyzing samples, such as biological samples, to accurately and effectively determine the susceptibility of the samples to antimicrobial materials, so as to determine minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values for the respective samples and antimicrobial materials. At each of a plurality of time intervals, the system and method directs a plurality of different analyzing light wavelengths, such as red, green and blue wavelengths, onto each of a plurality of sample wells, and detects a respective resultant light wavelength emanating from the respective sample wells for each of the analyzing light wavelengths. The system and method uses resultant light wavelengths to generate at least two growth indicator characteristic curves representing, for example, the redox state and turbidity characteristics of the sample wells.

  • Patent number: 6627018
Abstract: A system and method for forming a composite structure involves providing at least two polymeric sheets as outer layers such that a cavity is formed therebetween, adhesively bonding fibrous layers to the polymeric layers to hold the fibrous layers in place during processing, and injecting into the cavity a polymeric core material capable of exhibiting a foamed character and a resinous character. The cavity is evacuated during filling with the core material, and a blowing agent of the core material is activated upon exposure to the evacuated cavity. The core material contacting the fibrous layers is reconverted to its resinous character and forms a relative dense, resinous interface between the core and fibrous layers. Upon filling the region of the cavity between the fibrous layers, a catalytic reaction is initiated in the core.

  • Publication number: 20030169742
Abstract: Voice data transmissions between time division multiplexed streams and asynchronous transmission mode cell streams may be facilitated by supplying pre-formatted frames from a frame database. The frames may be filled with units that are preformatted in asynchronous transmission mode adaptation layer packet styles. These frames may then be forwarded from a time division multiplex processor to an asynchronous transmission mode adaptation layer processor that fills the ATM cells with the ATM payloads.

  • Patent number: 6584582
Abstract: A recovery logging method wherein when a node in a computer network becomes unavailable, file systems which require verification and are locked are logged in a recovery log and checking of other file systems continues. In this manner, the host node effectively utilizes time which would otherwise be spent waiting for a file system to become available. Upon completing available file system verifications, those file systems which were logged are checked for availability via background processing. When a logged file system becomes available, it is then verified. During the time spent waiting for a logged file system to become available, the affected node is available for other processing.

  • Patent number: 6564228
Abstract: A network file system and method wherein a storage area network Universal File System allows any host in a heterogeneous based storage area network to read or write data as if in its native format. Any host coupled to the storage area network may be configured to access any storage device on the storage area network. By augmenting the operating system of a host, the host is enabled to mount the Universal File System. Subsequent to mounting the Universal File System, a host may read data from and write data to the Universal File System.

  • Publication number: 20020196744
Abstract: A method and mechanism for allocating storage in a computer network. A storage allocation mechanism is configured to automatically identify and discover paths to storage which are coupled to a computer network. The identified storage is then selected for allocation to a host coupled to the computer network. A database describing the selected storage and paths to the selected storage is created and stored within the host. Upon detecting a failure of the host, the allocation mechanism is configured to automatically retrieve the stored database and re-map the previously mapped storage to the host. In addition, the allocation mechanism may check the validity of the database subsequent to its retrieval. Further, the allocation mechanism may attempt to access the storage corresponding to the database. In response to detecting the database is invalid, or the storage is inaccessible, the allocation mechanism may convey a message indicating a problem has been detected.

  • Publication number: 20020188697
Abstract: A method and mechanism for re-allocating storage in a computer network. A storage re-allocation procedure is initiated to re-allocate storage from a first host in a storage area network (SAN) to a second host in the SAN. The initiation of the re-allocation procedure is detected and halted in response to detecting I/O corresponding to the storage is in progress. Upon halting the procedure, a user is informed of this fact and is subsequently informed again when the I/O has completed and no further I/O is detected. The first host is then unmounted from the storage and configured so that it will not attempt to remount the storage on reboot. In addition, any other hosts which are detected to be mounted to the storage are also unmounted and configured to reboot without attempting a remount of the storage. Finally, the re-allocation procedure is completed.
