Patent number: 9783159Abstract: In system and methods for theft prevention or mitigation, driver-related data associated with one or more authorized drivers of an insured vehicle may be collected over time. The authorized drivers and the insured vehicle may be covered by an insurance policy issued by an insurance provider. Based upon the collected driver-related data, a database associated with the authorized drivers may be built. Current driver-related data associated with an individual currently driving, attempting to start, or sitting in a seat of the insured vehicle may be collected. It may be determined, using both the database and the current driver-related data, that the individual is not among the authorized drivers. A disablement of an operation of the insured vehicle may be caused, and/or the individual may be caused to be prevented from starting or otherwise operating the insured vehicle, to facilitate preventing or mitigating theft of the insured vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2015Date of Patent: October 10, 2017Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: Thomas Michael Potter, Mark E. Patent number: 9786154Abstract: In system and methods for loss mitigation, accident data associated with a vehicle accident involving a driver may be collected. The accident data may be analyzed, and a likely severity of the vehicle accident may be determined based upon the analysis of the accident data. A communication related to emergency assistance or an emergency assistance recommendation may be generated based upon the determined likely severity of the vehicle accident, and transmitted, via wireless communication, from one or more remote servers to a mobile device associated with the driver. A wireless communication from the driver indicating approval or modification of the emergency assistance or emergency assistance recommendation may be received. A third party may be notified, via a communication sent from the remote server(s), of requested emergency assistance as approved or modified by the driver. An estimated insurance claim may also be generated based upon vehicle accident likely severity.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2015Date of Patent: October 10, 2017Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: Thomas Michael Potter, Mark E. Publication number: 20150275921Abstract: A connected impeller and shaft is provided. The shaft has a first part which provides a threaded portion carrying a thread which screws onto a corresponding threaded portion of the impeller. The shaft also has a second part which provides an abutment surface for engaging a corresponding abutment surface of the impeller when the threaded portions are screwed together, thereby tightening the threads to provide a rotationally fixed connection between the impeller and the shaft. The first part is rotationally fixed relative to the second part at a joint. The threaded portion of the shaft is axially spaced a first distance from the abutment surface of the shaft. The threaded portion of the shaft is axially spaced from the joint by a second distance which is greater than the first distance. The threaded portion of the shaft and the joint are on the same side of the impeller.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2013Publication date: October 1, 2015Inventors: Ian Pinkney, Ian Patrick Clare Brown, Matthew Elijah Moore, Stuart Michael Potter, Francis Joseph Geoffrey Heyes

Publication number: 20110174537Abstract: System and methods for creating shaped, non-circular boreholes in rocks especially for use with geothermal heat pump applications and for increasing wellbore support in applications such as horizontal oil and gas drilling are described. The systems and methods when applied to geothermal heat pumps create an elliptical shaped hole that is optimized for placing heat transfer tubes with a minimum of grout used. The significantly reduced cross-sectional area of the elliptical borehole also increases the overall drilling rate in rock and especially in hard rocks. In horizontal hard-rock drilling, creation of a horizontal non-circular borehole or modification of a circular borehole to a non-circular geometry is used to stabilize the borehole prior to casing insertion, and may also allow the use of lower mud pressures improving drilling rates. The system uses a non-contacting drilling system which in one embodiment uses a supersonic flame jet drilling system with a movable nozzle that swings between pivot points.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2011Publication date: July 21, 2011Applicant: Potter Drilling, LLCInventors: Jared Michael Potter, Robert Marshall Potter, James Robert Basler, Thomas Waller Wideman
