Patent number: 11093896Abstract: A product status detection system includes a mobile automation apparatus having a sensor to capture data representing a shelf supporting products, responsive to data capture instructions. The system includes a server in communication with the mobile apparatus, having: a mobile apparatus controller to generate data capture instructions for the mobile apparatus; a repository to store captured data from the mobile apparatus; a primary object generator to generate primary data objects from the captured data, each including a location in a common frame of reference; a secondary object generator to generate and store secondary data objects based on the primary data objects; a detector to identify mismatches between reference data and the secondary data objects; and an alert generator to select a subset of the mismatches, and generate and transmit a status alert corresponding to the subset. The system also includes a client device to receive and display the status alert.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2018Date of Patent: August 17, 2021Assignee: Symbol Technologies, LLCInventors: Marco Perrella, Iaacov Coby Segall, Jordan K. Varley, Michael Ramputi, Ron Mercer, Robert E. Beach, Adrian J. Stagg

Publication number: 20200118063Abstract: A method of object status detection for objects supported by a shelf, from shelf image data, includes: obtaining a plurality of images of a shelf, each image including an indication of a gap on the shelf between the objects; registering the images to a common frame of reference; identifying a subset of the gaps having overlapping locations in the common frame of reference; generating a consolidated gap indication from the subset; obtaining reference data including (i) identifiers for the objects and (ii) prescribed locations for the objects within the common frame of reference; based on a comparison of the consolidated gap indication with the reference data, selecting a target object identifier from the reference data; and generating and presenting a status notification for the target product identifier.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2018Publication date: April 16, 2020Inventors: Bo Fu, Yan Zhang, Yan-Ming Cheng, Jordan K. Varley, Robert E. Beach, laacov Coby Segall, Richard Jeffrey Rzeszutek, Michael Ramputi

Patent number: 10230252Abstract: A method and system for charging a battery is provided. A group charging policy specifying a conditional charging behavior for charging a battery of a computing device is stored in a memory of the computing device. The computing device is coupled to a power source. Battery status data is received, via a communications interface of the device, for each of at least one other computing device coupled to the power source. A power draw rate for charging the battery of the computing device is throttled according to the group charging policy and the battery status data of the computing device and the at least one other computing device.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2015Date of Patent: March 12, 2019Assignee: Symbol Technologies, LLCInventors: Gad Noor, Michael A Ramputi, Jonathan Stok, Doron Yogev, Yoseff Mordechi Zlotnick, Michael Robustelli

Patent number: 6853293Abstract: A portable data input or computer system includes an input/output device such as a keyboard and a display, another data input device such as an optical bar code scanner, and a data processor module. To scan bar code type indicia, the operator points the scanner at the bar code and triggers the scanner to read the indicia. All the system components are distributed on an operator's body and together form a personal area system (PAS). Components may include a scanner or imager, a wrist unit, a headpiece including an eyepiece display, speaker and a microphone. Components within a particular PAS communicate with each other over a personal area network (PAN). Individual PASs may be combined into a network of PASs called a PAS cluster. PASs in a particular PAS cluster can communicate with each other over another wireless communication channel. Individual PAS can gain access to a Local Area Network (LAN) and/or a Wide Area Network (WAN) via an access point.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2002Date of Patent: February 8, 2005Assignee: Symbol Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Jerome Swartz, Michael Slutsky, Simon Bard, Stephen J. Shellhammer, James Connelly, Margaret L. Hetfield, Jacob Sharony, Michael A. Ramputi, Paul R. Poloniewicz, Joseph Katz, Robert E. Beach

Patent number: 4667302Abstract: The waveform generator herein may be used to generate an analog waveform selected from a plurality of stored digital representations of waveforms. These are stored in a memory within a processor section of the system. At least one waveform generator section communicates with the processor section and receives parameter control words therefrom respecting the manner in which a waveform is to be generated. Each such generator section includes a function generator controller, a temporary waveform memory for storing a selected one of the waveforms and a digital-to-analog converter. After receiving the parameter control words from the processor section, the function generator controller operates independently of the processor section for reading the data words stored in the temporary memory and generating the selected analog waveform.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1983Date of Patent: May 19, 1987Assignee: Harris CorporationInventors: Peter J.
