Abstract: Autophilic antibodies including an immunoglobulin component and an autophilic peptide fused thereto are provided according to embodiments of the present invention. Particular autophilic antibodies described herein include a chimeric gamma immunoglobulin heavy chain and autophilic peptide expressed as a fusion protein. Preferably the autophilic peptide is expressed at the C-terminus of the immunoglobulin component. Expression vectors according to embodiments of the present invention for use in generating autophilic antibodies are provided which include a first nucleic acid sequence encoding an autophilic peptide, operably linked to a transcription promoter. In particular embodiments, a second nucleic acid sequence encoding a chimeric heavy chain of an immunoglobulin operably linked to the transcription promoter and connected to the first nucleic acid sequence such that expression of the first and second nucleic acid sequences produces a fusion protein of the chimeric heavy chain and the autophilic peptide.
