Patent number: 6294189Abstract: A method for manufacturing an antidotal food product containing activated charcoal is provided to combine a binder, a filler composition, water, flavoring and sweetener compositions with an activated charcoal to form wafers having a consistency emulating that of a baked cookie. The activated charcoal (110), binder (112), filler (114), water (116), and flavoring and sweetener compositions (118) are combined in a mixer (210) to form a slurry. The slurry is then processed in a spray dryer (220) to form granules. The granules are combined with a lubricant (122) in a blender (230). The dry mixture from blender (230) is then formed into wafers by a tableting type machine in a compression molding step (240). The wafers formed in the compression molding step (240) are then coated in an anti-dusting coating step (250). A sweet creme filling is applied between pairs of the wafers in a cookie sandwich assembly step (270).Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1998Date of Patent: September 25, 2001Assignee: De Novo, Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Patent number: 5795586Abstract: An antidotal food product containing activated charcoal is provided for ingestion into the gastro-intestinal tract of a user. The antidotal food product is orally administered having the visual appearance and physical properties which enables the desire on the part of young children to chew and ingest the food product. The food product in a preferred embodiment includes a substantially dry friable wafer which is adapted to be chewed by the user for ingestion. The dry friable wafer has a wafer mixture composition formed by blending a first predetermined weight of sorbent particulate composition having an initial adsorption value with respect to a toxin to a second predetermined weight of a substantially non-interfering flavored binding composition which provides for a creamy and sweet tasting food product.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1996Date of Patent: August 18, 1998Assignee: De Novo, Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Stang, Jeffrey Alan Zeak, Brian Lee Strouts

Patent number: 4946094Abstract: This invention pertains to a container system (10) which is adapted to be removably coupled to the body (20) of a user (22). The container system (10) includes a container housing (24) and a cover member (48) having a cut-out portion (60) which is adapted to be contiguously mounted around the neck of the user. The container system (10) includes a releasable coupling mechanism (64) having a strap member (66) which is passed around the neck (62) of the user (22) and is of adjustable length to accomodate differing sized users (22). In this manner, there is provided a container system (10) which is disposable by the user (22) after use and is releasably secured in an adjustable manner around the neck (62) of the user (22) to perform a bib-like function and serve as a temporary table or tray for the objects being used.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1988Date of Patent: August 7, 1990Inventor: Michael A. Patent number: 4938580Abstract: A flexible optical filter storage system (10, 100) is provided for depolyment as sunglasses. Systems (10 and 100) include a flexible filter member (40) reversibly extendible from within a unitary housing (30). Flexible filter member (40) is a one-piece singular member being concurrently displaceable over and retractable from both lenses (24) of eyeglasses (20), or in an alternate embodiment, concurrently displaceable over both eyes of the user. The housing (30) contains a roller member (52) rotatably mounted therein for storage of the flexible filter member (40). Also provided within housing (30) is an extension/retraction assembly (50) coupled to roller member (52). In the alternate embodiment, storage system (100) includes bridge support assembly (170) hingedly coupled to housing (30) and extendible therefrom for supporting housing (30) above a user's nose.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1989Date of Patent: July 3, 1990Inventor: Michael A.
