  • Patent number: 6779567
Abstract: A transfer port apparatus (10) is provided to enable a worker to transfer one or more objects through a sealed passageway provided in the apparatus (10) from one sealed chamber into another sealed chamber. Transfer port apparatus (10) is adapted to be coupled to a movable canister (12) and a stationary isolator (16). Expandable airtight seals (72, 120) are deflated, doors (30, 40) are removed and an object (20) is transferred into the airtight clean working environment established in the isolator (16) through the sealed passageway established in transfer port apparatus (10) following coupling of canister (12) to isolator (16) using transfer port apparatus (10). After the object (20) is moved, doors (30, 40) are replaced and expandable airtight seals (72, 120) are inflated creating a substantially airtight seal. Movable canister (12) can be uncoupled from the transfer port apparatus (10).

  • Patent number: 5997399
Abstract: An apparatus for providing a clean working environment includes an isolation booth, a worker booth, and an access device arranged to enable a worker in the worker booth to handle material in an isolation chamber formed in the isolation booth. A pressure generator is positioned to communicate with the isolation chamber to generate an air pressure therein that is less than the air pressure of an air curtain passing through the worker booth so that air is drawn from the air curtain in the worker booth into the isolation chamber through any air leak opening that develops in and around the access device so as to block outflow of air in the isolation chamber to the worker booth through the air leak opening.

  • Patent number: 5425400
Abstract: A transfer port apparatus is provided for transferring an item through a port formed in a wall of a housing and into an interior region of the housing. The apparatus includes a door collar assembly formed to include an aperture therethrough, an arcuate groove surrounding the aperture, and threads for coupling the door collar assembly to the wall of the housing so that the aperture is in communication with the port to permit insertion of the item into the interior region of the isolation chamber. The apparatus also includes a door gasket located in the arcuate groove of the door assembly, and a door configured to be inserted into the aperture of the door collar assembly. The door has an outer peripheral surface aligned with the door gasket. The apparatus further includes a mechanism for biasing the door gasket against the outer peripheral surface of the door to retain the door in the door collar assembly and to seal the door in the door collar assembly.

  • Patent number: 5287881
Abstract: A bonnet is provided for operating a quarter turn valve assembly. The valve assembly includes a valve housing formed to include a fluid-conducting passage therein and a quarter turn valve moveable in the passage to regulate flow of fluid through the passage. The bonnet comprises a mechanism for moving the quarter turn valve in the passage, the moving mechanism including an elongated linkage assembly. The bonnet further includes an actuator housing containing the moving mechanism and an adapter block interposed between the valve housing and the actuator housing and configured to provide a mechanism for connecting the actuator housing to the valve housing. The adapter block includes a recess formed therein including a mechanism for receiving the elongated linkage assembly. The bonnet further includes a mechanism for coupling the actuator housing to the valve housing to trap the adapter block therebetween so that the actuator housing, adapter block, and valve housing are held together as a unit.
