Patent number: 7448444Abstract: A tubing rotator assembly that attaches to a casing head to suspend and rotate a tubing string in an oil well. The tubing assembly includes a rotation surface, such as a bearing, in which a tubing mandrel rests and allows one to rotate the tubing manually above the wellhead, and a mandrel bowl that rests inside the casing head. A tubing mandrel is partially contained within the mandrel bowl with one end exiting the bowl and attached to the tubing string, and the opposite end exiting the top of the bowl. A ledge of the tubing mandrel is supported on the bearing, which bearing rests on the interior ledge of the mandrel bowl. The assembly provides a low profile reducing the distance between the casing head and the pumping tee to eliminate the need to raise the pumping unit to fit on the rotator.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2005Date of Patent: November 11, 2008Inventors: Michael A. Publication number: 20050230099Abstract: The present invention relates to a tubing rotator assembly for attachment to an existing casing head for purposes of suspending and rotating a tubing string in an oil well. In the preferred embodiment, the tubing assembly includes a rotation surface, such as a bearing, in which a tubing mandrel rests and allows one to rotate the tubing manually above the wellhead. It provides a low profile reducing the distance between the casing head and the pumping tee, which may eliminate the need for one to raise the pumping unit to fit on the rotator. In addition, the conventional seals above the rotation surface have less chance of leaking fluids located between the casing and tubing due to the seals potentially installed in the present invention. In addition, if the conventional seals do start to leak, then one can change the packing rubber without having to remove the pump tee, tubing rotator assembly or tubing string (thus, not requiring a rig to change the sealing elements).Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2005Publication date: October 20, 2005Inventors: Michael Thomson, Philip Hart

Publication number: 20050177798Abstract: A method and system for automatically displaying content of a window on a display that has changed orientation is described. The content of a window, such as a dialog box, that has been authored for a particular size is repositioned and resized such that the window is viewable in its entirety when the display screen orientation is changed (e.g., from portrait to landscape.) A scroll bar is added to allow full access to content that is not visible within the display screen when necessary. Likewise, the scrollbar is removed when the scrollbar is no longer necessary in the new orientation. The repositioning and resizing of the window, as well as the addition or removal of the scrollbar occurs without interruption of other operating system applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2004Publication date: August 11, 2005Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Michael Thomson, Murtuza Naguthanawala, Joseph Figueroa

Patent number: 6173308Abstract: A distributed data processing system has a deadlock detection mechanism for detecting a potential deadlock involving a cyclic chain of dependencies between transactions. The system also has a deadlock doublechecking mechanism for confirming that all the dependencies in the potential deadlock chain are co-existent. If deadlock is confirmed, action is taken to break the deadlock. The deadlock doublechecking mechanism operates by marking the dependencies in the cyclic chain with a unique existence number, and subsequently checking that the existence number of each dependency in the cyclic chain is unchanged. Marking the dependencies may be performed by propagating a probe message, containing a unique probe existence number, and associating this probe existence number with each dependency visited by said marker probe.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1995Date of Patent: January 9, 2001Assignee: International Computers LimitedInventors: Albert Stephen Hilditch, Steve Robert Pettifer, Colin Michael Thomson, Nasser Siddiqi

Patent number: 6096523Abstract: The present invention provides a vector system that includes a set of shuttle vectors and a docking vector such that individual DNA segments, including large segments of coding DNA, can be cloned into individual shuttle vectors in the desired orientation and combined in a desired order and orientation, into a single docking vector. The docking vector can serve as a transformation vehicle directly or as a starting point from which the entire combination can be transferred to other transformation means.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1998Date of Patent: August 1, 2000Assignee: University of Georgia Research FoundationInventors: Wayne A. Patent number: 4610282Abstract: A portable machine for carbonating liquid contained in a bottle is adapted to support the bottle (5) by the neck (81) through a bayonet connection and for a seal (64) which closes the bottle neck to be driven into engagement with the bottle neck by a piston (60) actuated by the first burst of gas supplied to the injection nozzle (66). The bottle is loaded into the machine through a front opening (6) and a cover (7) for closing the opening is interlocked with a gas supply valve (12) so that gas can only be delivered to the nozzle (66) when the cover is closed. The cover is opened and closed by rotating a knob (23) which is depressed to open the gas valve. The knob (23) is coupled to the gas valve (12) through a device (27) which prevents the valve being opened if the machine is tilted at more than a given angle to the upright position.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1984Date of Patent: September 9, 1986Assignee: Sodastream LimitedInventors: Graham L.
