  • Patent number: 7299219
Abstract: A system for maximal gathering of fresh information added to a network such as the as the Internet and for processing the gathered fresh information. A link server (2) sends a batch of links to check (3) to a crawler (1B). Crawler (1B) them executes its crawling assignment by filtering the encountered content and extracting only that which is new or changed (4). Crawler (1B) then returns this content (4) to at least one data center and any interested web mining application (5). By using the crawlers (1A-E) to filter the data and only return or notify regarding, the fresh content, less bandwidth is needed to get the information to the web mining application (5).

  • Publication number: 20060069550
Abstract: A digital audio encoder receives PCM encoded audio information and encodes it with first and second types of digital audio coding, the encoded audio information having self-contained data units, wherein corresponding pairs of self-contained data units encoded with the first type and second type of digital audio coding represent the same underlying audio information. A decoder receives the first and second audio information and an error signal indicating the detection of errors and omissions in the first audio information. The decoder provides a PCM audio output and/or an encoded audio output complying with said first type of digital audio coding based on either the first or second audio information depending on whether there are errors or omissions in the first audio information.

  • Patent number: 5298751
Abstract: A remote vapor concentration measurement system comprising a unitary, single-fixed wavelength laser to heat the background surface behind a vapor or gas cloud, the constituents of which are to be detected and measured. A heated background acts as a broad band infrared source for measuring absorption characteristics of the gas or vapor constituents. A spectrally responsive receiver, which for example may be a spectrometer or radiometer having filters at selected wavelengths corresponding to the absorption characteristics of the specie of gas or vapor being detected, is also provided. This receiver measures the relative absorbance of infrared energy at selected wavelengths over a relatively broad infrared range to measure the absorbance characteristics of the specie of gas or vapor of interest. The system also comprises a range finder positioned adjacent the receiver for measuring the distance between the receiver and the background surface along two different paths.
