  • Patent number: 11970287
Abstract: An introduced autonomous aerial vehicle can include multiple cameras for capturing images of a surrounding physical environment that are utilized for motion planning by an autonomous navigation system. In some embodiments, the cameras can be integrated into one or more rotor assemblies that house powered rotors to free up space within the body of the aerial vehicle. In an example embodiment, an aerial vehicle includes multiple upward-facing cameras and multiple downward-facing cameras with overlapping fields of view to enable stereoscopic computer vision in a plurality of directions around the aerial vehicle. Similar camera arrangements can also be implemented in fixed-wing aerial vehicles.

  • Patent number: 11927836
Abstract: Small optics (femtooptics) may be made with optical metasurfaces or diffractive surfaces. Baffles may be formed in the femtooptics with through-glass-via techniques or a variety of etching strategies. Femtooptics may in addition be made using wafer stacking techniques. Variations and combinations of these approaches lead to femtooptics manufacturable in vast quantities by semiconductor wafer processing techniques, also referred to as wafer level optics.

  • Patent number: 11927621
Abstract: Cryogenic testing systems for testing electronic components such as wafers under cryogenic conditions are provided. The novel designs enable fast throughput by use of a cryogenically maintained test surface to which wafers may be rapidly introduced, cooled, and manipulated to contact testing elements while maintaining high quality cryogenic conditions. Thermal shielding is achieved by floating shields and/or flexible bellows that provide effective thermal shielding of the test environment while enabling manipulation of wafers with a wide range of motion. Also provided are novel door assemblies, chuck configurations, and vacuum plate bases that enable effective maintenance of cryogenic conditions and high throughput.

  • Publication number: 20240077781
Abstract: Conventional high performance computer connections are electron-based systems, which require the memory packages to be as close as mechanically possible to the computation engine. Low power and high bandwidth communication, e.g. photonic, links can drastically change the architecture of high-performance computers by eliminating the bottlenecks in communication and augment existing memory systems to allow them to be both high capacity and high bandwidth simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20230386011
Abstract: A novel video inspection method for an interior surface of a small diameter pipe may include the steps of advancing a videoscope through the pipe of known size while acquiring raw images therefrom; estimating the video camera pose for at least some of the raw images; sequentially building a pipe point cloud, a mesh, and a 3D textured model of the interior surface of the pipe from the raw images with adjustments for video camera poses; unwrapping the raw images using camera poses and the pipe point cloud to create unwrapped images of the interior surface of the pipe; and creating a panoramic image of the interior surface of the pipe by stitching the unwrapped images together. The method improves on a conventional Structure-from-Motion technique and allows enhanced sharpness, reduced artifacts, and improved uniformity of lighting as a result of reduced model noise and removal of outliers. The method may be implemented with conventional video borescopes by postprocessing raw images using proprietary software.

  • Patent number: 11699383
Abstract: A display is created using “smart pixels.” A smart pixel is a pixel of a display that integrates the pixel pipeline as part of the pixel, rather than using separate integrated circuits. A smart pixel may be based on an integrated stack that includes light emitting elements, an external data contact for receiving digital data for that pixel, and also the pixel pipeline from the digital data to the light emitting elements.

  • Patent number: 11686953
Abstract: A contact lens having a cap, core, and base forming three layers to allow for the contact lens to be thick enough to accommodate a payload, while ensuring sufficient oxygenation of the wearer's eye. The cap and base are each a thin layer of gas-permeable material, each shaped to form an air gap between them and the core. The two air gaps are connected by air passages that traverse the core. Oxygen from an outside environment passes through the gas-permeable cap to reach the outer air gap, through the air passages to the inner air gap, and through the gas-permeable base to reach the cornea of the wearer's eye. The cap may be annular in form, having a center hole such that the cap does not extend over the central zone of the core, reducing a thickness of the contact lens.

  • Patent number: 11624938
Abstract: An unobtrusive augmented reality (AR) system can be used to assist the wearer in every day interactions by projecting information from the contact lens display onto the retina of the wearer's eye. The unobtrusive augmented reality system includes a necklace and a contact lens display that are unobtrusive to the wearer and the wearer's surrounding environment. The necklace of the unobtrusive augmented reality system generates power and data for the contact lens displays. The necklace and contact lens display include conductive coils inductively coupled by a magnetic field. The inductive coupling allows data and power generated by the necklace to be transferred to the contact lens display. A projector in the contact lens display projects images generated from the data onto the retina of the wearers eye.

  • Patent number: 11619813
Abstract: A small imager mounted on a user's eye (referred to as a femtoimager) is coordinated with an external camera. The femtoimager may be contained in a contact lens, and it may be aligned with the gaze a user's eye. The femtoimager and external camera capture images with overlapping views of the external environment. Images from the two imagers may be compared with one another to estimate the femtoimager's view of the external environment relative to the camera's view of the external environment. This may then be used for different applications.
