Patent number: 10038824Abstract: According to exemplary methods, a print job is received into a computerized device that includes a marking device. The print job specifies an imposition template defining multiple logical pages for a single sheet of print media according to an electronic document. The print job attributes also contain a first print colorant order and a different second print colorant order. Groups of logical pages are defined for each print colorant order, and buffers are created in which raster data associated with each group of logical pages are merged and untouched pixels are marked as negative pixels. The information from each buffer is printed on a single sheet of print media. Following printing of each buffer, the sheet of print media is returned to the marking device, so that information from the next buffer can be printed on the same side of the sheet of print media, using the marking device.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2017Date of Patent: July 31, 2018Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Arindam Das, Chiranjib Basu, Michael A. Patent number: 9067453Abstract: The disclosed book production system and method allow a book block and flexible book cover for that book block to be printed in the same print job immediately prior to binding. Specifically, a user-selection indicates that a book print job contains both the book block and the cover. Raster image processing is performed to produce raster images based on all page descriptions in the print job. The raster images are sorted by size to identify first raster images for the book block pages and to identify at least one second raster image, which is more than twice as large as any of the first raster images, for the cover. The pages for the book block and the cover can be printed on first print media sheets and on a second larger print media sheet, respectively. Then, the cover can be bound to the book block by an in-line bookbinder.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2012Date of Patent: June 30, 2015Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Michael A. Wiegand, Albert L. Patent number: 7777615Abstract: A system for assisting the alignment of a hitch pin mounted on the rear of a vehicle with a hitch socket mounted on the front of a trailer. The system includes a camera mounted to the vehicle and positioned to capture an image rearwardly of the vehicle. A video display is contained within the vehicle which displays the image captured by the camera. A processor is also contained in the vehicle which calculates a preferred path of travel of the vehicle to position the hitch pin in alignment with the hitch socket. The processor is programmed to provide instructions to an operator of the vehicle of the required steering to maintain the vehicle on the preferred path of travel. The processor recalculates the preferred path of travel whenever the vehicle veers from the preferred path of travel by a preset threshold.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2008Date of Patent: August 17, 2010Assignees: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc., Denso International America, Inc., Denso CorporationInventors: Masato Okuda, Christian Arthur Trager, Lisa Marie Brown, Michael Wiegand, Tanemichi Chiba, Christopher Kurpinski, Jeffrey Edward Angeliu, Hirohiko Yanagawa, Yoshihisa Sato, Toshihiro Wakamatsu, Justin McBride, Thomas Keeling

Patent number: 7688179Abstract: A hands-free vehicle door opener utilizes a spring-loaded mechanical pushing device, or other method, to open a vehicle door a few inches upon a laser emitting device sensing a foot in its emitted laser. The laser is emitted from the laser emitter upon the key fob of a smart key being validated by the vehicle's smart key validation system when a user approaches the vehicle with the smart key fob. When the laser beam is interrupted, a signal is sent from a smart ECU to a door lock ECU, which unlocks the vehicle door. Next, a signal is sent to a door open ECU to unlatch the vehicle door. Upon door unlatching, the spring-loaded pushing device pushes open the vehicle door. Instead of a laser emitting device being used as the sensor, a device with electrical contacts, an ultrasonic wave emitting sensing device, or other device could be used.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2005Date of Patent: March 30, 2010Assignee: DENSO International America, Inc.Inventors: Christopher M Kurpinski, Justin P McBride, Keiichi Aoyama, Thomas J Keeling, Michael A Wiegand, Tanemichi Chiba, Hiroto Uesaka
