  • Publication number: 20220064065
Abstract: A hybrid additive for use in construction materials such as asphalt and concrete is disclosed. The additive includes pellets formed of a plastic or polymer material, and one or more of fibers, pozzolans, nano-carbon tubes, glass, recycled asphalt shingles (RAS), liquid anti-strip, hydrated lime, rejuvenators, cementitious material, and ground tire rubber. Also disclosed are hybrid composite materials useful as paving and building materials, and methods of making the same. The hybrid additives were found to maintain the positive performance aspects of typical asphalt and concrete mixtures, while improving the performance of the mixtures by increasing bonding and strength within the mixture—and therefore increasing useable life and lowering costs.

  • Patent number: 9185589
Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to identify wireless carrier performance effects are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes receiving an indication of media content presentation on a wireless communication device, monitoring a wireless carrier operating parameter in response to receiving the indication of media content presentation, and monitoring the wireless communication device for a media content presentation command. The example method also includes associating the media content presentation command and the wireless carrier operating parameter with a scoring factor indicative of subscriber preferences, and generating a report including the scoring factor.

  • Patent number: 5543850
Abstract: An apparatus for capturing and decoding the closed caption data from a television signal and displaying the closed caption data, along with the video picture, in a windowing environment on the monitor of a personal computer system. The closed caption decoder device stores the line of video data containing the closed caption text in an object in the frame buffer of the PC. The host CPU reads the raw video data from the frame buffer and stores it in system memory. The host CPU parses the line of video data to separate the two ASCII characters representing closed caption data from the color burst information and synchronizing clock information. After the closed caption data has been retrieved and parity-checked, the closed caption data may be displayed in a window of user-determined size and location on the monitor of the PC, independent of the size and location of the video image window corresponding to the closed caption text.
