  • Patent number: 8558420
Abstract: A power tool has a motor having a stator made by separately forming pole pieces and field coils. The field coils are placed over necks of the pole path pieces. An armature has an outside diameter of at least 0.625 the outside diameter of the stator is placed in the stator. The housing has a girth of 200 mm or less with the motor wound to provide a maximum watts out to housing girth ratio of at least 5 maximum watts outs to 1 mm of housing girth. • Patent number: 8188394
Abstract: A universal termination system is provided for power tools. The universal termination system includes criteria for each of the main switch platforms that define the number, type, location and orientation of the terminations. That is, the number, type, location and orientation of the terminations in each main switch platform are standardized and the power tools that use that type main switch platform use the main switch platform having the standardized terminations. That is, power tools that use push button switches use the push button switch with the standardized terminations, power tools that use overhang switches use the overhang switch with the standardized terminations, and power tools that use in-line VSR switches use the in-line VSR switch with the standardized terminations. In an aspect of the invention, a right-angle pin terminal is received in one or more sets of the standardized terminations.

  • Patent number: 7687964
Abstract: An electric motor has a field assembly, such as a stator, for a dynamoelectric machine has field coils that are wound to a net shape. Lead wires are brought out from the ends of each field coil. The field coils are insulated with insulating sleeves or insulating slot liners. The field coils are assembled with stator core pieces, such as pole pieces and return path pieces, into the stator. The stator core pieces are formed prior to being assembled with the field coils. In an aspect of the invention, the pole pieces and return path pieces are separately formed and then assembled together with the field coils, which have also been separately formed.

  • Publication number: 20090312697
Abstract: A surgical access assembly dimensioned for positioning within a patient's tissue includes a seal member having an internal channel defined therein for the reception of a closure member, and an aperture extending through the seal member that is configured to removably receive a surgical object upon its insertion into the surgical access assembly. The closure member is selectively actuable to transition the seal member from a first condition, in which the aperture includes a first diameter, to a second condition, in which the aperture includes a second diameter. The second diameter is less than the first diameter and substantially approximates an outer dimension of the surgical object such that a substantially fluid-tight seal is formed therewith.
