  • Patent number: 11709277
Abstract: A method for detecting time rollovers is disclosed. The method may include receiving time data including week data and second data and processing the time data to generate a first date. The method may include generating, based on the first date and an offset value, a second date and obtaining, when the second date is prior to a baseline date, a network date. The method may include assigning the network date as the baseline date and processing the network date and the first date to determine an updated offset value. The method may include storing the updated offset value as the offset value and determining, based on the network date, a system date.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 23, 2020
Date of Patent: July 25, 2023
    Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.
Inventors: Michael L. Peterson, Andrew Thomas Elliott, William Edwin Peterson, David Louis Rottier, Michael Aaron Caruthers

  • Publication number: 20070278984
Abstract: A 2-phase switched reluctance device topology includes a switched reluctance device having first and second phase coils. Each of the first and second phase coils has a first terminal and a second terminal. The first terminal of each of the first and second phase coils is electrically coupled between two switching elements of a first pair of switching elements. The second terminal of the first phase coil is electrically coupled between two switching elements of a second pair of switching elements. The second terminal of the second phase coil is electrically coupled between two switching elements of a third pair of switching elements. Each switching element includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a control electrode, wherein the control electrode is communicatively coupled to a switch controller that operates the switching element. Each switching element also includes a diode communicatively coupling the first electrode to the second electrode.

  • Patent number: 7122914
Abstract: A method for starting an engine of an electric drive machine may include the method steps of introducing current to an electric motor system from a battery and receiving the current into at least one coil on an electric motor of the electric motor system. The electric motor may be configured to drive the electric drive machine when operating. The method may also include the steps of releasing the energy from the at least one coil to an energy storage device and discharging the voltage from the energy storage device to a power generation system to start the engine. A system for starting an engine of an electric drive machine is also disclosed.
