Abstract: A method is provided for compacting textile articles for packaging. At least one article is placed in a mold. The article is compressed multiple times to form a rigid bundle, each compression including the steps of subjecting the article to a predetermined pressure for a predetermined period. Between each compression, the pressure is released. Each compression reduces the compacted volume of the rigid bundle.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a garment is provided that includes applying an adhesive layer to a first ply and/or a second ply in a first amount in a first zone where structural support is desired and in a second amount in a second zone where breathability is desired; arranging the first and second plies with respect to one another so that the adhesive layer is therebetween; and activating the adhesive layer to secure the first and second plies to one another.

Abstract: A former for spraying a garment with a dye is provided. The former includes a hollow frame having a plurality of individual elements configured to support the garment and a plurality of openings being defined between the plurality of individual elements so that the hollow frame has a thermal conductivity that is equal to or less than a thermal conductivity of the garment.

Abstract: Processes for dyeing fabric are provided. The process can include continuously moving the fabric in a machine direction; removing folds or creases from the fabric; spraying a first surface of the fabric with a dye; and exposing the fabric to atmospheric steam after spraying the dye on the first surface but prior to the dye drying on the first surface so that the dye migrates from the first surface to a second surface of the fabric and reacts with and affixes to a component of the fabric.

Abstract: A battery charging assembly for use on a locomotive is described and which includes a diesel engine having a mechanical power output of less than about 50 horsepower; an oil tank coupled in fluid flowing relation relative to the diesel engine and which contains a volume of oil which facilitates the operation of the diesel engine for a time period which is at least equal to a maintenance interval of the locomotive; an alternator coupled to the mechanical output of the diesel engine and which produces an electrical power output to charge a plurality of batteries which are mounted on the locomotive; and an air compressor coupled in fluid flowing relation to the locomotives air system.

Abstract: Method and device for ensuring high yields during spraying of a settable slurry composition. The slurry is conveyed through a length of hose to a nozzle spray-orifice, and a set accelerator is introduced into the slurry at a distance “D” from the nozzle spray-orifice. The level of accelerator is monitored using a sensor located in the slurry path at a point after the set accelerator is injected. A preferred sensor comprises two pairs of conductivity sensors each having an annular body with a bore corresponding to the diameter of the hose or nozzle bore. Voltage of the slurry can be correlated to yields obtained when a salt-based accelerator fluid is injected into the slurry, such that levels of accelerator can be finely adjusted, and consistently high yields of spray coatings can be achieved.

Abstract: An indexing method for allowing a viewer to control the mode of delivery of program material. By mapping from time to data position, data delivery can begin at any selected time in the program material. The indexing method also provides for controlling data delivery to begin at the beginning of a frame of data. A synchronizing method is provided to minimize a time offset between audio and vide data, particularly in environments using groups of pictures.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for receiving and aligning a multiple electrode pair array and a multiple well plate used in electroporation. The apparatus includes a housing which includes a bottom housing portion and a pair of side housing portions which project upward from the bottom housing portion. A pair of board-reception structures are adjacent to the inner portions of the side housing portions. Multiple well plate engaging and disengaging means, supported by the housing, are provided for engaging a multiple well plate with a multiple electrode pair array and for disengaging a multiple well plate from a multiple electrode pair array. Preferably, the multiple well plate engaging and disengaging means include a multiple well plate lifting and lowering assembly. The multiple well plate lifting and lowering assembly can include lifting/lowering handles located outside the housing.
