  • Patent number: 9820416
Abstract: A shielding cage with an improved construction is disclosed that permits such cages to be more closely spaced together when a plurality of them are arranged in side-by-side arrays of cages. The cage is formed from a sheet metal blank that is stamped and formed to define sidewalls, top wall, bottom wall and a rear wall. In one embodiment, the ends of the blank are formed with interengaging elements in the form of tabs and slots that interfit within the plane of one of the cage walls, thereby eliminating the need for projections disposed on the sidewalls of the cage.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 18, 2014
Date of Patent: November 14, 2017
    Assignee: Molex, LLC

  • Patent number: 9035199
Abstract: A receptacle assembly includes a hollow conductive cage with a front end and an opening to an interior portion of the cage. The opening is configured to receive a module assembly therein. The cage has a bottom with a bottom opening communicating with the interior portion, and the bottom is configured to be joined to a circuit board. A layered EMI shield member is provided between the bottom of the cage and the circuit board and the shield member extends completely around the bottom opening of the cage. The EMI shield member is formed as a flexible, low-cost assembly that utilizes a pair or insulative layers that flank a conductive layer.
