  • Publication number: 20120312458
Abstract: We describe a peel and present mechanism (10) for use with labelling apparatus such as a label stock cartridge or cassette, or a label printer. The peel and present mechanism is configured to peel labels (18) from label stock (14) having a backing liner (16). The mechanism comprises a first, label stock carrying face bounded by a label-detachment edge (12,20) wherein, in use, said label stock passes in a longitudinal direction over said label stock carrying face and around said label-detachment edge (20) to peel and present labels (18), and wherein said label stock carrying face has a bent transverse surface profile (24) in a transverse direction perpendicular to said longitudinal direction such that, in use, said label stock is bent in said transverse direction whereby, as said label stock passes over said-label detachment edge, said longitudinal direction of said label stock defines a projected path for a label peeled from said label stock by said label-detachment edge.

  • Publication number: 20040092802
Abstract: The present invention relates to devices and methodology for determining the variation in concentration of chromophores within an epithelial tissue. The devices comprise a means of illuminate the skin at one or more points and at wavelengths corresponding to specific chromophores. The device further comprises a detection means configured to detect the intensity of light remitted from the epithelial surface, a processing means configured to interpret image data sets obtained by the detection means and an output display to display the results or significance of the results. The invention further extends to a method of interpreting the distribution of chromophores within a lesion of an epithelial tissue. The method comprising the steps of illuminating an epithelial surface, determining the intensity of remitted light, analysing said intensity data to determine variation in the intensity across the lesion and providing an output corresponding to the extend of variation across the lesion.

  • Publication number: 20030139672
Abstract: The present invention relates to apparatus and methodology for determining the distribution and concentration of chromophores within the epithelial tissue by illuminating an area of an epithelial tissue surface with visible and infrared spectral light. The epithelial tissue is illuminated with light of selected wavelength at a first intensity and an image of light remitted from the epithelial tissue surface is detected. The tissue is then illuminated at a second intensity and a second image is detected. A combined image is then produced such that each point of the image corresponds to a value of the percentage remittance at that position and has an intensity within that of the usable dynamic range of the detector.

  • Patent number: 5999203
Abstract: An electronic imaging camera includes a printer assembly for providing instant images. Selected special effects may be applied to the images prior to printing. The printer assembly includes a thermal print head and a paper advance roller. A replaceable preloaded paper cartridge is provided for easy replacement of the paper. The housing of the paper cartridge acts as a printing platen for the print head, and rollers in the cartridge maintain friction between the paper and the paper advance roller of the printer assembly. A pivoting print head cover prevents a user from inadvertently coming into contact with the print head when the paper cassette is removed. A rotary encoder gear includes a plurality of spaced lugs which block emissions from a light emitting diode from reaching a phototransistor. As the encoder gear rotates in synchronization with the print head, the phototransistor produces a series of electrical pulses indicative of the print head speed.
