    Abstract: Radio signals over a spectrum of radio frequencies are sampled for individual time periods of a set of plural time periods to give respective spectrum data for each of the time periods (of the set of plural time periods). The respective spectrum data for each of the time periods (of the set of plural time periods) is then stored in memory. The respective spectrum data for subsets of time periods (of the set of plural time periods) is then consolidated to give respective consolidated spectrum data for each of the subsets of time periods (of the set of plural time periods). The respective consolidated spectrum data for each of the subsets of time periods (of the set of plural time periods) is then stored in memory. The step of consolidating respective spectrum data for subsets of time periods is repeated for progressively larger subsets of time periods.
