  • Patent number: 11109127
Abstract: A speaker apparatus, method, and system with a user selectably expandable chamber is provided. The chamber in its expanded state enhances the speaker's acoustical properties using a relatively stiff back plate of the speaker apparatus. The chamber in its collapsed state provides a thin profile for increased portability or low profile mounted solutions. The speaker is compatible with current electronics and may magnetically attach to a target surface such as a surface of a handheld device. The target surface may effectively supplement the stiffness of the back plate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 11, 2019
Date of Patent: August 31, 2021
    Assignee: POW AUDIO INC.
Inventors: Cameron V. Walter, Glen V. Walter, Gabor Paulke, Michael Arthur Siegel, Michael G. Zartarian

  • Patent number: 9510068
Abstract: A loudspeaker includes a plurality of electro-acoustic drivers that are configured to be positioned so that an axis running through an acoustic center of the drivers is one of a substantially straight line, J-shape, reverse J-shape, and C-shape. The loudspeaker also includes at least one sensor to detect a configuration of the plurality of electro-acoustic drivers, and a processing device configured to automatically adjust one or more of an equalization and a gain applied to an audio signal output through the electro-acoustic drivers based on the detected configuration.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 7, 2014
Date of Patent: November 29, 2016
    Assignee: Bose Corporation
Inventors: Michael G. Zartarian, Peter C. Santoro, Michael Arthur Siegel
  • Patent number: 9351072
Abstract: A method and audio signal processor for detecting feedback in an electrical amplification system divides a frequency spectrum into a plurality of frequency bands, classifies a tone present in an incoming audio signal into one of the plurality of frequency bands based on a frequency of the tone, selects a threshold value based on the frequency band into which the tone is classified, and disqualifies the tone from potentially being feedback if an amplitude of the tone is greater than an amplitude of a harmonic of the tone by less than the threshold value. The tone is deemed to be potentially feedback if the amplitude of the tone is greater than an amplitude of a plurality of harmonics of the tone by at least the threshold value.
