  • Publication number: 20190373512
Abstract: A method (100) for managing resource usage across domains in a communication network is disclosed. The communication network comprises a radio access domain, a core domain and a transport domain providing connectivity between the radio access domain and the core domain. The method comprises receiving from the core domain an indication of load status of gateway nodes in the core domain (110), receiving from the transport domain an indication of load status of transport resources in the transport domain (120), normalising across the core and transport domain a cost of using resources in each domain (130), calculating, on the basis of the normalised costs, optimal chains of resources in the core and transport domains for providing a service from different radio access nodes to different possible Access Point Names (APNs) (140), and sending to the core and transport domains information about the calculated optimal resource chains (150).

  • Publication number: 20160205204
Abstract: A method by a control node (100) is disclosed for controlling deployment of services on computer resources within a distributed computing system (110) for use by electronic devices (120). The method includes recording information (200) that identifies characteristics of the electronic devices (120) and/or users of the electronic devices (120) that are provided which of the services. Dependent relationships between the services and the characteristics of the electronic devices (120) and/or the characteristics of the users of the electronic devices (120) are determined (202) based on the information. Deployment of the services on the computer resources within the distributed computing system (110) is controlled (204) based on the identified relationships and for use by the electronic devices (120). Related control nodes, systems, and computer program products are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130254544
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a temporary identity module to a device (1) in a communication network. An RO Server (2) receives a request for an identity module (51) from the device (1). It then obtains an identity module and generates an encryption key (S4, S5). The encryption key is partitioned into a plurality of slices such that no slice comprises the whole encryption key (S6). Each slice is sent (S8, S9) to respective further devices (10, 11) accessible by the server (2) such that no single further device (10, 11) receives sufficient slices to reconstruct the encryption key. A key location key is generated (S10) that identifies each slice and the further device (10, 11) to which each slice has been sent. The identity module is encrypted using the encryption key (S11) and sent to the device (1) along with the location key (S12). The device (1) can subsequently use the location key to obtain the slices and reconstruct the encryption key.

  • Patent number: 8516550
Abstract: In one aspect, the present invention provides a method for providing user information to a service provider. The method may include receiving a message including a communication device identifier; storing the communication device identifier with an identifier associated with a user of the communication device so that the communication device identifier is associated with the user identifier; transmitting a consent request message to the user; receiving a response to the consent request message, which response indicates that the user has provided the requested consent; and in response to receiving the response to the consent request message, transmitting a consent confirmation message to the service provider.

  • Publication number: 20120330470
Abstract: A system for controlling charging for energy usage is provided. The system may comprise a plurality of devices powered by electricity and a management network managing energy usage consumed by the plurality of devices. Each device of the plurality of devices may include a sensing unit for measuring energy usage consumed by the device, and a transmitting unit for transmitting the measurement of the energy usage to the management network. The management network may include a receiving unit for receiving the measurement transmitted by the transmitting unit, an identification unit for identifying a device for which the received measurement has been measured, and a charging unit for controlling charging to a user of the identified device based on the received measurement.

  • Publication number: 20120196584
Abstract: An arrangement and method in a wireless communication network provides users with full control of service management, defines how a user can enter or leave services, and defines dependencies between services. A mobile terminal initiates establishment of a group and creates a unique groupID. The terminal sends invitations to other terminals to join the group and includes the unique groupID and a service feature tag for a desired service. The terminal will not request a service if it is incompatible with a service already running. Terminals that receive invitations store the groupID and service feature tags. These parameters are used to send acceptances or rejections, and to join later or leave a service.
