  • Patent number: 10408918
Abstract: In a method for determining orientation of an object, raw image data of the sky is recorded using a sky polarimeter. One or more of Stokes parameters (S0, S1, S2), degree of linear polarization (DoLP), and angle of polarization (AoP) are calculated from the image data to produce a set of processed images. Last known position and time data of the object are obtained, and a known Sun azimuth and elevation are calculated using the last known position and time data. Roll and pitch of the object are found, and the roll and pitch data are used to find a zenith in the processed images. The yaw/heading of the object is determined using the difference between a polarization angle at the zenith and a calculated Sun azimuth.

  • Patent number: 9989625
Abstract: A system for determining a new orientation and/or position of an object comprises a sky polarimeter configured to record image data of the sky, a signal processing unit, and logic configured to receive and store in memory the image data received from the sky polarimeter. The logic calculates the Stokes parameters (S0, S1, S2,), DoLP, and AoP from the image data, detects obscurants and filters the obscurants (such as clouds and trees) from the image data to produce a filtered image. The logic is further configured to find the Sun and zenith in the filtered image, and to determine the roll, pitch, yaw, latitude and longitude of the object using the filtered image.

  • Patent number: 7934596
Abstract: A storage and organization system for storing wrapping paper rolls and wrapping supplies includes a first supply holding side and a second supply holding side pivotally connected to each other between a workstation orientation and a storage orientation. The workstation orientation is an orientation where the first and second supply holding sides form an angle and the storage orientation is an orientation where the first and second sides are substantially parallel. The first and second supply holding sides each have an inwardly facing surface facing the opposing supply holding side and an outwardly facing surface facing away from the opposing supply holding side. A plurality of wrapping paper roll-receiving features and a plurality of supply receiving features are disposed on the outwardly facing surfaces of the respective first and second supply holding sides.

  • Patent number: 5975626
Abstract: A cross-member supporter for foldable furniture enables at least two construction members to selectively be supported in strongly extended cross structure or be folded in parallel compact structure for easy storage and carrying purposes. The cross-member supporter includes a supporter body having at least two vertical connecting holes and two inclined supporting holes provided therethrough. The two inclined supporting holes are inclined in opposite direction. The two inclined supporting holes are respectively extended from top to bottom through the two vertical connecting holes to form two supporting through slots. An axis of the vertical connecting hole of each of the supporting through slots is intersected with an axis of the respective inclined supporting hole, wherein each of the supporting through slots defines an upper supporting groove and a lower supporting groove which are inclined in opposite direction.
