Publication number: 20230158418Abstract: Flying discs with different rim shapes in grip sectors and non-grip sectors. This may provide a comfortable throwing grip on a given disc while allowing desired flight characteristics (that may not match the grip shape) due to differing rim wing shapes in non-grip sectors. A set of discs may have the same grip width and shape but different widths and shapes in non-grip sectors. For example, a set of discs with one or more mid-ranges, one or more fairway drivers, and one or more distance drivers all share the same grip feel, in some embodiments.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2022Publication date: May 25, 2023Inventor: Michael B. Publication number: 20030195875Abstract: An information management method includes a step of preparing an information management structure adapted to model business operations using data objects. The content for at least some of the objects relates to the operations. The preparing of the information management structure includes the following steps. A unique identifier is assigned to each object. An object composition, an object behavior, an object interrelationship (how that object relates to at least one other object), and an object interaction (how that object interacts with at least one other object) is defined for each object. The at least one other object is identified in a definition using its unique object identifier. An insight into a selected group of objects is defined based on the object composition definition, the object behavior definition, the object interrelationship definition, the object interaction definition, or any combination thereof, for each object in the selected group of objects.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2003Publication date: October 16, 2003Inventors: Jeffrey W. Valk, Michael B. Davis

Patent number: 6340170Abstract: An apparatus (10) for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle having an instrument panel (12) includes a knee bolster (30) movable in the vehicle from a stored position adjacent the instrument panel to a blocking position spaced apart from the instrument panel. The knee bolster (30) has at least one fastener opening (62) and a tear seam (70) extending around the fastener opening. The tear seam (70) defines and encloses a securing portion (72) of the knee bolster (30). A fastener (76) releasably maintains the knee bolster (30) in the stored position adjacent to the instrument panel (12). The fastener (76) extends through the fastener opening (62) in the knee bolster (30) and overlies the securing portion (72) of the knee bolster. The knee bolster (30) ruptures at the tear seam (70) in response to movement of the knee bolster from the stored position to the blocking position.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2000Date of Patent: January 22, 2002Assignee: TRW Vehicle Safety Systems Inc.Inventors: Michael B. Davis, Garry Hayes

Patent number: 6294082Abstract: A process for upgrading a hydrocarbon oil is provided which comprises introducing the oil and an aromatic extraction solvent containing 0.1 to 10 vol % water into an extraction zone for contact of the oil and solvent therein whereby an extract solution is formed; and injecting water into the extraction zone at a point below that at which the extraction solvent is introduced. The injected water is injected substantially countercurrent to the extraction solvent at a velocity of about 0.5 to 3 ft/sec in an amount ranging from about 0.1 to about 10 LV% based on the amount of extract solution being processed.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1999Date of Patent: September 25, 2001Assignee: Exxon Research and Engineering CompanyInventors: Keith K. Patent number: 5898935Abstract: A cap with an adjustable visor section that is adjustable between a range from a lowered position, which gives the cap the appearance of a traditional baseball cap, and a raised position based on the incident sunlight and the wearer's preference, to shield the wearer's eyes. The visor section is removably attached to the sides of the cap thereby allowing other visors of different shapes or colors to be used interchangeably with the cap portion. The visor section also provides a means to attach protective eyewear thereon to further shield the wearer's eyes from sunlight or the like when the visor is worn in the lowered position.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1998Date of Patent: May 4, 1999Inventor: Michael B. Patent number: 5632867Abstract: In a solvent recovery plant including a recovery or distillation tower from which solvent product is recovered overhead, an isothermal separator, preferably a cyclone, is used to separate liquid phase contaminant (i.e. oil in a lubricating oil extraction process) in overhead product and to feed the separated liquid to the recovery tower as reflux. In addition, a portion of the feed to the tower can be branched off and mixed with the overhead product to bring its temperature down to close to the dew point of the solvent vapor. In this way, flooding of the uppermost tower trays and distillation of oil overhead can be overcome.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1995Date of Patent: May 27, 1997Assignee: Exxon Research and Engineering CompanyInventors: Michael B. Patent number: 4856848Abstract: The present invention in a preferred embodiment provides an apparatus and method of utilization there of of a fore and aft adjustable vehicle seat headrest. The headrest includes a base providing means of attachment of the headrest to said vehicle seat. A frame is connected with the base. A cushion support with an attached shaft is slidably mounted with the frame for fore and aft movement. The shaft has a series of unidirectional cam slots. A spring biases the cushion support to a rearward position with respect to the frame. Levers pivotally connected with the frame engage with the shaft slots to set the position of the headrest. Release means are provided to remove the levers and retain the levers from reengagement with the slots upon extreme forward movement of the cushion support thereby allowing the spring to return the cushion support to an extreme rearward position.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1988Date of Patent: August 15, 1989Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Terence J.
