Abstract: A prefilled disposable plastic syringe (1) comprising an open ended barrel (2) having a needle fitting (6) disposed at one end and being sealed at the other end by a moveable stopper (4) wherein said needle fitting end of the barrel (2) is sealed by a frangible closure (7) which is integral with the needle fitting (6), said closure being adapted to cooperate with a hypodermic needle support (21) shaped to fit onto said needle fitting (6) such that application of a downward force on said hypodermic needle support (21) onto said needle fitting (6) causes said closure (7) to separate from the needle fitting and move at least some way into the body of the syringe (1) and thereby reveal the contents of the syringe (1) for injection.

Abstract: A liquid containing thermoplastic unit dose container (1) which comprises a body portion (2), a neck portion (3) and an outlet opening (7) at the end of the neck portion (3) which is sealed by a non-resealable cap (4). The outside wall of the neck portion (3) comprises a thread engagement portion (8) which is located at or proximate the outermost edge of the neck portion (3) so that after removal of cap (4) thread engagement portion (8) is adapted to engage within an inwardly facing screw thread channel (14) at the end of a syringe. This enables sealing connection of the container (1) to the syringe so that liquid within container (1) may be directly transferred from the container (1) to the syringe.

Abstract: A plastic cartridge for use as a pre-filled cartridge comprising a hollow cylindrical barrel (1) having a top end and a bottom end (2) both of which are open. The bottom end is sealed by a stopper (3) and the top end (6) by a plastic cap (7). The cap comprises a hypodermic needle (27), or an integrally moulded fitting (12) adapted to receive a hypodermic needle, and a closure (9) which is frangibly connected and integral with the cap (7) so that upon application of a removal force on the closure the closure can be separated from the cap thus revealing the hypodermic needle or the hypodermic needle fitting and the contents of the cartridge. Also the prefilled syringe is described and a method for manufacturing the pre-filled cartridge.
