  • Patent number: 11549853
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for measuring the location, the amplitude, and/or the direction of forces applied to a walking or running surface. An example system includes a pressure-sensitive sheet that extends along a first axis. The pressure-sensitive sheet includes a top surface and a bottom surface. A vertical force applied at a location along at least one of the top surface or the bottom surface forms an electrical path between the top surface and the bottom surface having a resistance, rf, that is inversely proportional to an amplitude of the vertical force. The system further includes read out circuitry configured to provide information indicative of the amplitude of the vertical force and the location of the vertical force along the first axis of the pressure-sensitive sheet.

  • Publication number: 20190120397
Abstract: A check valve has a cage assembly set within a cage assembly containment portion defined within a cylindrical housing member, where the cage assembly containment portion is bounded between a first circumferential shoulder and a second circumferential shoulder of the interior of the cylindrical housing member. The cage assembly has a valve seat, a spacer member, and a nylon insert, where the nylon insert has a fluid inlet end and a fluid outlet end, where the fluid outlet end has at least one ball stop member. The valve seat is urged against the first circumferential shoulder by, in respective order, the spacer member, the nylon insert, and the second circumferential shoulder which urges the nylon insert against the spacer member. A ball travel section is defined between the valve seat and the ball stop member and a ball is disposed in the ball stop section.

  • Patent number: 8986822
Abstract: A device or method to prevent penetration of oil and petroleum products while allowing high water flow rate is provided. Such device or method is beneficial in controlling the contamination of surrounding soil from accidental leak of hydrocarbons such as oil and other petroleum products from equipment or storage vessels containing such materials. The containment systems equipped with these devices will allow the rain water to flow through while providing barrier to oil and petroleum products.

  • Patent number: 8315383
Abstract: A random number generator that generates random numbers based on measurements of one or more environmental quantities. The random number generator includes a first sensor for generating a first sequence of digital values representing measurements of a first environmental quantity at successive times. A first compressor that provides a first sequence of compressed values having a lower internal correlation than the values of the first sequence of digital values compresses the sequence of digital values. The random number generator generates an output random number via a circuit for generating a random number from an input sequence of digital values, the input sequence being a function of one of the first sequence of compressed values. The circuit may utilize a hash function to provide further security. In addition, the circuit includes a blocking circuit for preventing the generator from outputting a random number if the input sequences fail a predetermined test.
