  • Patent number: 10167705
Abstract: There is provided a method of gas lift having the steps of positioning a valve seat downhole in a gas well experiencing hydrostatic loading, the valve seat having a gas flow channel, and providing a valve closure movable between a closed position engaged with the valve seat to close the gas flow channel and an open position spaced from the valve seat permitted a flow of gas through the gas flow channel, the closure being biased by magnetic attraction to a normally closed position magnetically engaged with the valve seat, such that gas is only able to flow through gas flow channel when gas pressure is sufficient to move the closure to the open position by overcoming the magnetic attraction which maintains the closure in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 6896920
Abstract: A sealed beverage package including a container with a beverage and an insert sealed therein. The insert holds a gas that upon opening the container interacts with the beverage to produce a froth in the beverage. The insert is designed to float in the beverage and is sized relative to the container such that it cannot rotate end-over-end therein. The insert includes a body with at least one fin extending therefrom. The at least one fin may have the dual functions of securing the insert in the container above the beverage to facilitate charging the insert with gas, as well as preventing the insert from exiting the container, once the container is opened.

  • Publication number: 20050104259
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a composite sandwich structure, the method comprising a preform assembly method. The method comprises providing a preform (8) comprising at least two sheets (12, 14) connected by a plurality of extensible threads (16), and affixing to the outer face of each sheet (12, 14), a face sheet (18, 22). The adhesion is by a film adhesive (20, 24) placed over the respective sheets (12, 14), and the preform (8) is subjected to pressure or heat to set the film adhesive (20, 24). The method further comprises a method of molding a composite sandwich structure, the method comprising placing a preform (8) in a mold (30), creating pressure differentials between respective chambers (40, 42) within the mold (30), feeding a resinous compound into the mold (30), and allowing the resinous compound to set and cure. The invention also provides composite sandwich structures made in accordance with the methods.
