  • Publication number: 20200248616
Abstract: The invention relates to an electric media gap machine (10) for a compressor (2) and/or a turbine (3), in particular for a turbocharger (1) of an internal combustion engine, comprising a shaft (5) which is rotatably mounted in a housing (6) and to which a rotor (11) is rotationally fixed, a stator (12) which is fixed to the housing and which has at least one multiphase drive winding (16) for generating a drive magnetic field and multiple stator teeth (15) which protrude inwards radially. Each stator tooth (15) has a tooth base (29) paired with a stator yoke (12) and a free end (28) facing the rotor (11). The end (28) of at least multiple stator teeth (15), in particular of all of the stator teeth (15), is axially offset to the tooth base (29) of the same stator tooth (15).

  • Patent number: 10711661
Abstract: A method for operating a drive apparatus, having a reciprocating-piston engine and an exhaust-gas-driven turbocharger, of a motor vehicle, the reciprocating-piston engine being operated in a four-stroke mode during on-load operation; and the exhaust-gas-driven turbocharger having an electrical machine, in particular a media gap machine, that is operated in generator mode during overrun operation of the reciprocating-piston engine. During overrun operation, the reciprocating-piston engine is operated in a two-stroke mode.

  • Patent number: 6318085
Abstract: In the apparatus for controlling a coasting air recirculation valve of the turbocharger of an internal combustion engine, the coasting air recirculation valve is arranged in the coasting air recirculation line bypassing a compressor in the intake duct, and the coasting air recirculation valve is controllable by way of the intake duct pressure on the downstream side of the throttle valve. In order to ensure defined opening and closing of the coasting air recirculation valve, an additional control pressure, with which the coasting air recirculation valve can be opened independently of the intake duct pressure, can be delivered to the coasting air recirculation valve.

  • Patent number: 6220232
Abstract: To achieve a very sturdy automatic control of the boost pressure, the integration of system deviation of the boost pressure, which is carried out by an integrator, is limited to a predefinable limiting value. Limiting value is composed of a basic value and a correction value superimposed upon it. Correction value is determined adaptively as a function of speed, a plurality of speed ranges being predefined. Adapted correction value can be increased or reduced stepwise, which mainly depends on whether the integral-action component of the manipulated variable for the boost pressure is smaller or greater than the current limiting value.

  • Patent number: 6185495
Abstract: The invention proceeds from a system for generating a signal which represents a deceleration operation of a motor vehicle having a motor. The signal is especially for driving the brake lamps of the motor vehicle. Furthermore, a control apparatus is present which controls (open loop or closed loop) the motor in dependence upon the data, which are present in the control apparatus. The essence of the invention is that the data, which are present in the control apparatus and which are applied for generating the signal, represent at least the drag torque, which is effected by the motor (the motor drag torque). With the system of the invention, a relatively precise index for a vehicle deceleration is obtained from the data present anyway in the motor control apparatus at least in newer or future motor control apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5845495
Abstract: An arrangement enabling a reliable detection of speed-of-rotation deviations between two exhaust-gas turbochargers of an internal combustion having separate cylinder banks included a device, which determines the difference between the pressures prevailing in the two exhaust trains of the two cylinder banks upstream from the exhaust turbines and signals a relevant speed deviation when the pressure difference determined exceeds a specifiable threshold.
