  • Patent number: 9002946
Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, article of manufacture, and computer readable storage medium enable a dual modeling environment. A client application is created that has proxy modules. Each of the proxy modules is a light weight version of a corresponding precise module in a server application. Commands are executed in the client application to produce client output data. The same commands are transmitted to the server application that is executed concurrently with and independent from the client application and produces server output data. The client output data is synchronized with the server output data.

  • Publication number: 20130159935
Abstract: Techniques for manipulating a three-dimensional scene displayed via a multi-touch display include receiving information associated with an end-user touching a multi-touch display at one or more screen locations, determining a hand movement based on the information associated with the end-user touching the multi-touch display, determining a command associated with the hand movement, and causing the three-dimensional to be manipulated based on the command and the one or more screen locations. The disclosed techniques advantageously provide more intuitive and user-friendly approaches for interacting with a 3D scene displayed on a computing device that includes a multi-touch display.

  • Publication number: 20090178158
Abstract: The seeds of parasitic plants of the genera Striga and Orobanche will only germinate after induction by a chemical signal exuded from the roots of their host. Many of these compounds have been isolated and identified from a number of different plant species and are collectively called the strigolactones. Here we show that the strigolactone germination stimulants are derived from the carotenoid pathway. This finding is used to create crop species that do not induce germination of parasitic plant seeds anymore and therefore are resistant to parasitic plants. Also provided is a method to use chemicals and mycorrhizae to inhibit germination stimulant production to control parasitic plants. Also provided are strigolactone overproducing trap and catch crops.

  • Patent number: 6259600
Abstract: A structure and method for mounting a processor assembly on a mother board and a structure and method for cooling the processor assembly are described. The processor assembly includes a processor circuit board assembly which is located adjacent to a heat sink for removing heat from the circuit board assembly. The heat sink and circuit board assembly are maintained in an upright position with respect to the mother board by a fame mounted on the mother board and/or the computer system chassis. A cover mounted to the top of the frame holds a connector on the processor circuit board assembly in mating contact with a connector on the mother board. The cover also serves to complete an enclosure around the heat sink and processor circuit board assembly. Fans mounted to the frame move air from an intake end of the processor assembly, across cooling fins on the heat sink, to an outlet end of the processor assembly such that a ducted cooling system is provided for the processor assembly.
