  • Publication number: 20240065636
Abstract: An oximeter probe that takes into account tissue color (e.g., skin color or melanin content) to improve accuracy when determining oxygen saturation of tissue. Light is transmitted from a light source into tissue having melanin (e.g., eumelanin or pheomelanin). Light reflected from the tissue is received by a detector. A compensation factor is determined to account for absorption due to the melanin. The oximeter uses this compensation factor and determines a melanin-corrected oxygen saturation value.

  • Publication number: 20200115846
Abstract: A stiffened reinforcement fiber is provided that includes a surface treatment disposed thereon. The surface treatment comprises at least one film former. The stiffened reinforcement fiber has a stiffness that is at least 50% higher than an otherwise identical reinforcement fiber that has not been surface treated.

  • Patent number: 9181865
Abstract: An electrical generator has an internal combustion engine and an alternator mounted to the engine and operative to generate electrical power during running of the engine. The alternator and the engine are arranged vertically to reduce the footprint of the electrical generator. The components of the electrical generator are contained within an enclosure defined by a base panel, a set of upright side panels, and a roof panel. When the roof panel is removed, each of the side panels can be independently removed from engagement with the base panel, which allows for easier access to the components of the electrical generator, such as for maintenance, service, and repair. The components are arranged so that cooling and exhaust air flow paths are defined within the enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20070154911
Abstract: The invention relates to an isolated polypeptide which is the same as or similar to (i.e., has the same function and effect as) a protein which occurs naturally in human keratinocytes and is more strongly expressed when the keratinocytes are in their activated state. The invention also relates to an isolated nucleic acid which codes a polypeptide or protein of this type that is typical for human keratinocytes and to the use of said polypeptide and said nucleic acid for detection, especially diagnostic purposes and/or for therapeutic purposes or the use of reagents, especially recombinant vector molecules and antibodies, against molecules of this type.

  • Publication number: 20060179024
Abstract: A method for integrating a data item into a knowledge model is provided. The method may include retrieving the data item from a data source, determining if the data item has been previously integrated into the knowledge model, and integrating the data element into the knowledge model if the data item has not been previously integrated.

  • Publication number: 20060179027
Abstract: A system for managing a knowledge model defining a plurality of entities is provided. The system includes an extraction tool for extracting data items from disparate data sources that determines if the data item has been previously integrated into the knowledge model. The system also includes an integration tool for integrating the data item into the knowledge model that integrates the data item into the knowledge model only if the data item has not been previously integrated into the knowledge model. Additionally, a relationship tool for identifying, automatically, a plurality of relationships between the plurality of entities may also be provided. The system may also include a data visualization tool for presenting the plurality of entities and the plurality of relationships.

  • Publication number: 20060179069
Abstract: A system including a knowledge model is provided. The system includes an interface for presenting a relationship between two entities of a knowledge model. The interface includes a method that accepts a first input representative of a selection of a first interface item, the first interface item associated with an entity of the knowledge model. The method also includes presenting, in response to the acceptance, a second interface item, the second interface item associated with a second entity of the knowledge model, wherein the second entity has a relationship with the selected entity and the relationship has a relationship type selected from the group consisting of a direct relationship type or a derived relationship type. Finally, the method also includes presenting a relationship indicia representative of the relationship between the first entity and the second entity.
