  • Publication number: 20220406963
Abstract: A device having a layered structure that includes a layer of phase change material and a matrix material layer having embedding quantum emitters is tuned. An electric field is applied through the matrix material layer and the layer of phase change material to change the emission wavelengths of the quantum emitters. A phase of the phase change material is changed, in a non-volatile manner, in each of one or more of local areas of the phase change material, to form local alterations that are opposite to respective ones of the quantum emitters in the matrix material layer, to locally modify the electric field at the respective quantum emitters.

  • Patent number: 11465031
Abstract: In various embodiments, a treadmill system may include one or more custom treadmill hardware devices and one or more accompanying pieces of software which may be configured to work in tandem to simulate one or more virtual terrains within a game on a physical treadmill. In particular embodiments, the system is configured to enable a user to control a direction of a virtual avatar as the avatar traverses the virtual terrain (e.g., while the user is using the treadmill). The system may then be configured to manipulate the treadmill (i.e., incline of the treadmill, speed of the treadmill, etc.) based on the terrain that the avatar is currently traversing. The system may utilize one or more imaging devices to identify particular gestures performed by the user. In this way, the system may be configured provide hands free control to the user while the user is using the treadmill.

  • Publication number: 20220236761
Abstract: The disclosure describes an adaptive and optimal imaging of individual quantum emitters within a lattice or optical field of view for quantum computing. Advanced image processing techniques are described to identify individual optically active quantum bits (qubits) with an imager. Images of individual and optically-resolved quantum emitters fluorescing as a lattice are decomposed and recognized based on fluorescence. Expected spatial distributions of the quantum emitters guides the processing, which uses adaptive fitting of peak distribution functions to determine the number of quantum emitters in real time. These techniques can be used for the loading process, where atoms or ions enter the trap one-by-one, for the identification of solid-state emitters, and for internal state-detection of the quantum emitters, where each emitter can be fluorescent or dark depending on its internal state.

  • Publication number: 20220222601
Abstract: The process of identifying suitable subjects for scientific investigation, drawing together collaborators to perform that research, securing funding for that research and initiating the research is accelerated by a process that brings together researchers and investigators who provide short statements of evidence relevant to the subject of evidence. As the collection is built, investigators and researchers may provide conjectures and projections as to what sort of research the collection suggests. That collection is made available to funding entities on a secure basis to form proposed research initiatives they are desirous of funding from which proposals a research proposal is selected to perform the research on the subject of interest. Signing of researchers and initiating the research completes a process that completes the cycle of research and development more quickly than current models.
