The label removal component may include a retraction system configured to position the paddle in an ejection path of the label rejection system to receive a rejected label. The label removal component may include a removable liner on the paddle configured to receive the rejected label and to be discarded with the rejected label. The label removal component may include a pressurized gas system configured for ejecting a rejected label.
