Patent number: 8107408Abstract: Connection ID (CID) assignment in multi-hop relay system can be used to perform routing. Using CID assignment as routing information in a multi-hop wireless relay system to maintain the routing structure is disclosed. In a CID cache scheme, a base station builds a CID cache based on the upstream packet and broadcasts the CID cache to a relay station. The CID cache comprises CIDs along with routing information. Based on CID cache the spanning tree of the routing can be reconstructed. A hierarchical CID assignment is disclosed wherein a base station assigns a range of CIDs to a relay station. A relay station can recognize its data packets and forward them to corresponding mobile stations. Publication number: 20090307685Abstract: Deploying a software service. A defined software service offering is selected from a plurality of defined software service offerings. An instantiation order for deploying the selected defined software service offering on a corresponding computer system is generated. Each defined software service offering comprises a software service definition and at least one defined software policy. One selected from the group consisting of the software service definition, the software policy, and a combination thereof, provides a hardware configuration for the software service, a software configuration for the software service, and a managing policy for the software service. The instantiation order of the software service for execution on the computer system is created based on the hardware configuration, the software configuration and the managing policy.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2009Publication date: December 10, 2009Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Christine Axnix, Gerhard Banzhaf, Michael Behrendt, Andreas Bieswanger, Gerd Breiter, Andrea Schmidt, Helmut H. Publication number: 20090228893Abstract: Method, computer program products and systems for conserving energy in data processing center, wherein a plurality of services are offered to a plurality of subscribed service consumers in a dynamic fashion, allowing a created service instance to be re-assigned from one to another server of the resources. Control parameters comprising power consumption and temperature of a group of resources are monitored. A workload may be assigned properties such as “hot” and “cold.” which are then assessed. A hot workload may be relocated to a cold spot, and if necessary, a cold workload may be relocated to a location which was de-loaded from a workload, that is, a hot spot, which is then considered to cool down due to addition of less workload in form of the cold workload. Thus, the energy required to cool the data center may be minimized.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 3, 2009Publication date: September 10, 2009Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Michael Behrendt, Andreas Bieswanger, Gerd Breiter, Hans-Dieter Wehle

Publication number: 20090177634Abstract: Data processing comprising requesting a semantic description from each manageable resource of a plurality of manageable resources. An application domain comprises the plurality of manageable resources. The semantic description of a manageable resource comprises semantic information about a plurality of aspects of a manageable resource. The semantic information is specified by use of an ontology. The semantic descriptions and a conceptualization of the application domain is stored in a knowledge base. The conceptualization of the application domain is provided by the ontology. The conceptualization comprises semantic information about the application domain. A request from a client of the application domain to provide a manageable resource with specific properties is received. The specific properties are specified in the request.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 8, 2009Publication date: July 9, 2009Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINE CORPORATIONInventors: Michael Behrendt, Gerd Brelter, Martin Reitz

Publication number: 20080263258Abstract: A method for migrating virtual machines between hypervisors is disclosed. Initially, metadata describing a virtual machine are automatically scanned and parsed. The structure of the metadata of a source virtual machine are automatically analyzed. Elements of this structure are mapped to corresponding entries of a target virtual machine. A target metadata descriptor to be used as part of the target virtual machine is generated. A predefined layout description of the data stored in a file system image of the source virtual machine read. A predefined layout description of the data to be stored in a file system image to be used at the target virtual machine is also read. The data are extracted from the source virtual machine. A template of a file system image for the target virtual system is generated. Storage space corresponding to the target virtual machine is allocated, and the extracted data are inserted into the allocated storage space.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2008Publication date: October 23, 2008Inventors: Claus Allwell, Michael Behrendt, Gerd Breiter, Sebastian Ott, Hans-Joachim Picht, Jens Wollenhaupt

Publication number: 20080215673Abstract: A data processing method is disclosed. The data processing method comprises the step of receiving a request for a service interface description of a service from a client at a server, wherein the service is implemented via a first service endpoint at the server, and wherein the first service endpoint is associated with a first service endpoint interface description. In a further step, a given set of correlations is employed for the determination of service endpoints correlated with the first service endpoint with respect to the service, wherein each of the correlated service endpoints is associated with a service endpoint interface description. Publication number: 20060277082Abstract: The inventive process for modeling workflows for interacting stateful resources starts with modeling an activity sequence description (ASD) by using keywords. The keywords specify well-defined resource-interaction semantics. Each modification of the ASD automatically triggers a new checking process of the ASD in its current state which is executed by the ASD processor. The ASD processor parses the keyword, evaluates the resource-interaction semantic associated with the keyword, and creates for each modeled activity an updated resource type model and an updated resource instance model based on the information provided by the current resource type model, the current resource instance model, the semantics associated the currently processed keyword and the semantics of the relationship stereotype definition.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2006Publication date: December 7, 2006Inventors: Michael Behrendt, Jochen Breh, Gerd Breiter, Georg Ochs, Andrea Schmidt
