Patent number: 9279525Abstract: A flexible hose having an inner tube member made from a thermoplastic elastomer material and an outer tube member made from a non-elastic polyester material. The inner tube member is secured to the outer tube member only at an inlet coupler and an outlet coupler. The inlet coupler is constructed to secure to a water supply provided from a conventional household water spigot. The outlet coupler incorporates a flow restrictor allowing the inner tube member to equalize in pressure with pressurized water received from the water supply. Pressurized water expands the elongated inner tube member longitudinally along a length of the inner tube member and laterally across a width of the inner tube member thereby substantially increasing the length of the hose to an expanded condition wherein the hose contracts to a substantially decreased length when there is a decrease in pressurized water.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2014Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: Blue Gentian, LLCInventor: Michael Berardi

Patent number: 8479776Abstract: A flexible garden hose having an inner tube member made from elastic material and an outer tube member made from a non-elastic material. The inner tube member is secured to the outer tube member only at an inlet coupler and an outlet coupler. The inlet coupler is constructed to secure to a water supply provided from a conventional household water spigot. The outlet coupler is coupled to a flow restrictor allowing the inner tube member to equalize in pressure with pressurized water received from the water supply. Pressurized water expands the elongated inner tube member longitudinally along a length of the inner tube member and laterally across a width of the inner tube member thereby substantially increasing the length of the hose to an expanded condition wherein the hose contracts to a substantially decreased length when there is a decrease in pressurized water.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2012Date of Patent: July 9, 2013Assignee: Blue Gentian, LLCInventor: Michael Berardi

Patent number: 8291941Abstract: A hose which automatically expands longitudinally and automatically expands laterally upon the application of a fluid pressure is disclosed. The hose can automatically expand longitudinally up to six times its unexpanded or contracted length. Upon release of the fluid pressure within the hose, the hose will automatically contract to a contracted condition. The hose includes an inner tube made from an elastic material and an outer tube made from a non-elastic material. The inner tube is positioned concentrically within the outer tube in both a contracted condition and an expanded condition. The outer tube is secured to the inner tube only at a first end of the inner and outer tubes and at a second end of the inner and outer tubes. The outer tube moves laterally and longitudinally with respect to the inner tube when the tubes are transitioning between a contracted condition and an expanded condition.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2011Date of Patent: October 23, 2012Assignee: Blue Gentian, LLCInventor: Michael Berardi

Publication number: 20070265964Abstract: A transponder-reader payment system includes a fob including a transponder, and a RFID reader for interrogating the transponder. The system may further include a personalization system for populating onto the fob and RFID reader identifying information and security and authentication keys which may be used during mutual authentication of the fob and the reader and for completing a transaction. In exemplary operation, the fob and RFID reader may be personalized, the fob may be presented to the RFID reader for interrogation, the fob and reader may engage in mutual authentication, and fob identifying information may be provided to the reader for transaction completion. In another exemplary embodiment, operation of the transponder-reader payment system may be controlled by an activation circuit. Further, the fob may be responsive to multiple interrogation signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2007Publication date: November 15, 2007Applicant: American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc.Inventors: Michael Berardi, Michal Bliman, David Bonalle, Jennifer Elwood, Matthew Hood, Susan Isenberg, Alexandra Mayers, Peter Saunders, Kathryn Scheding, Sejal Shah, John Williamson

Publication number: 20050165695Abstract: A transponder-reader payment system includes a RFID reader for interrogating a transponder, and a fob including a transponder which is associated with fob data file funded by one or more funding sources. In exemplary operation, the fob identifying information may be presented to the RFID reader for completion of a transaction request. The transaction request may be provided to a fob issuer system which may process the transaction request in accordance with a funding protocol wherein the transaction request is satisfied according to a fob issuer predefined funding criteria relative to the multiple funding sources.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2002Publication date: July 28, 2005Inventors: Michael Berardi, Michal Bliman, David Bonalle, Jennifer Elwood, Matthew Hood, Susan Isenberg, Alexandra Mayers, Trevor Perry, Peter Saunders, Kathryn Scheding, Sejal Shah, Kristin VonWald, John Williamson

Publication number: 20050160003Abstract: A system and method for providing incentives at a merchant location for using a RF identification (RFID) transaction device for transaction completion is provided. An RFID transaction device account number includes a marker for identifying that the transaction is being completed using an RFID transaction device. A merchant system recognizes the marker and provides incentives to the RFID device user accordingly. In one embodiment, the incentives are provided to an RFID device user in real-time. Alternatively, the merchant system may provide the incentives to the customer at a later time. Further still, incentives may be provided to the user based on a prior transaction history, user profile, or any other data related to the user, user account, merchant, product or service.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 7, 2005Publication date: July 21, 2005Applicant: AMERICAN EXPRESS TRAVEL RELATED SERVICES COMPANY, INC.Inventors: Michael Berardi, Michal Bliman, David Bonalle, Jennifer Elwood, Matthew Hood, Susan Isenberg, Trevor Perry, Peter Saunders, Kristin VonWald

Patent number: 4753147Abstract: A guitar mute has a tubular body of elasticized terrycloth. Hook and eye fasteners provide selectable tension on the strings when the mute is attached to the neck of the guitar. A felt pad sewn into the middle of the mute adapts to the contour of the fingerboard. Being slightly shorter than the distance between the two outermost strings, the felt pad, along with the elastic in the tubular body, provides an even pressure to all strings. The mute can be slid along the neck with one hand without removing the mute from the guitar.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1987Date of Patent: June 28, 1988Inventor: Michael Berardi
