Patent number: 7540933Abstract: A method and device for applying sheet material, such as wallpaper, to a substrate. The applicator is bi-positionable, having a first position where the sheet material is spaced apart from the substrate and a second position where the sheet material contacts the substrate. Additionally or alternatively, the applicator may be provided with a control bar. In the first position, the control bar contacts a portion of the sheet material such as its free end. This minimizes the chance of the sheet material prematurely contacting the substrate. In the second position, the sheet material is disengaged from the control bar for application to the substrate. The applicator and sheet material may be provided together in a kit.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2006Date of Patent: June 2, 2009Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Michael Bernard Dugas, Keith Hobart Gausmann, Mark John Steinhardt, Timothy Charles Rothwell

Patent number: 6986932Abstract: A multi-layer article comprised of a first and second layers bonded together. The first layer is comprised of two plies and a third material between the two plies. The two plies are bonded together at a plurality of discrete bond sites. The bonding of the plies form an interior region between the plies. The third material of the first layer is disposed between and substantially fills the interior region between the plies. The third material differs from the first and second plies by at least one material property selected from thermal properties, elongation properties, elastic properties, or conductive properties. The third material is apertured in regions coincident with the bond sites of the first layer and the first and second plies are joined to each other through the apertures. The second layer of the article comprises a cellulosic web.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2002Date of Patent: January 17, 2006Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Ronald Joseph Zink, Michael Bernard Dugas

Patent number: 5874157Abstract: An embossed paper laminate having two laminae is provided. The laminae are joined such that there is at least one zone of the laminate wherein the peel strength of the laminate in that zone is greater than the peel strength of the laminate in other zones of the laminated paper product. The laminate is made by two close tolerance pattern rolls juxtaposed to form a nip. Each pattern roll has radially extending protuberances which contact the periphery of the other pattern roll intermediate its protuberances. The laminae are fed through the nip in face-to-face relationship and are embossed and adhesively joined to the other lamina by the radially extending protuberances. The laminating adhesive is supplied to the various zones of the laminated paper product at a level that is appropriate for providing the requisite peel strength for that zone.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1996Date of Patent: February 23, 1999Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Douglas Edgar Robinson, Michael Bernard Dugas, Barry Robert Silber
