  • Patent number: 7809491
Abstract: A control scheme is disclosed for performing both an adaption routine and carbon canister purging. In adaption, parameters for estimating air-fuel ratio from flow sensors and actuators are adjusted against an air-fuel ratio under closed-loop control using an EGO sensor. The two processes cannot run simultaneously. In vehicles in which the engine is operating from the time of key on until key off, the adaption occurs shortly after starting and then periodically thereafter. In vehicles in which the engine is turned on and off frequently such as with HEVs, the adaption routine may be run every time the engine is turned on, which is more frequent than necessary and doesn't allow enough time for purging. According to the disclosed control scheme, the time since last adaption and time in adaption is saved when the engine is turned off so that the adaption routine is conducted only when needed.

  • Publication number: 20060138810
Abstract: A modular comfort assembly is disclosed. The modular comfort assembly is adapted for installation within an occupant support. The occupant support includes a surface, which has a recess therein. The modular comfort assembly includes a ventilation diffuser allowing for flow of air through the diffuser. The diffuser has an outer edge sized to extend over and cover a perimeter of the recess. The modular comfort assembly also has a heating element adapted for placement on a surface of the diffuser.

  • Publication number: 20060077487
Abstract: A system and method manipulates and corrects the color of digital images. The invention addresses, inter alia, the problem of the differences in chromaticity of two systems by characterizing the chromaticity of the hues of a color model to minimize the perceived color difference between a digital image and its real world counterpart.

  • Publication number: 20050200179
Abstract: A method of installing a modular comfort assembly within an occupant support includes the step of providing a modular comfort assembly including a heating element and at least one of a ventilation diffuser bag and a lumbar support system, the heating element, the diffuser bag, and the lumbar support system being modularly attachable to each other on sides thereof. The occupant support includes an outer cover, an internal foam bun, and a frame. The method further includes the step of mounting the modular comfort assembly onto a surface of the foam bun beneath the outer cover.

  • Patent number: 5965387
Abstract: A chemically inducible gene promoter sequence, and particularly, but not exclusively, a chemically inducible gene promoter sequence based on cis regulatory elements from the maize glutathione S-transferase 27 (GST-27) gene. In a preferred embodiment, the promoter sequence is operatively linked or fused to a gene or series of genes whereby expression of the gene or series of genes may be controlled by application of an effective exogenous inducer.

  • Patent number: 5306863
Abstract: The invention relates to a recombinant DNA molecule which comprises a structural gene coding for a trypsin inhibitor, in particular a trypsin inhibitor from a legume, more particularly from Vigna unguiculata (cowpea trypsin inhibitor or CpTI), or for a protein having properties resembling those of CpTI and/or having a substantial degree of homology therewith. The invention also relates to a recombinant DNA plasmid comprising such a DNA molecule, and to the incorporation of the DNA into the nuclear genome of a plant.
