Abstract: A break-away joint apparatus is disclosed for a boom arm having a front side and a back side, the boom arm having a main boom portion and a boom tip. The apparatus allows the boom tip to assume a neutral position and to pivot to a forward position and to a rearward position with respect to the main boom portion. The apparatus includes a first hinge connected to the main boom portion proximate one of the front or back side of the boom arm; a second hinge connected to the boom tip proximate an opposite side of the boom arm; and a pivot plate having first and second opposite sides, the first side connected to the first hinge and the second side connected to the second hinge.
