    Abstract: An admission control method for a restricted-admission area uses a hearing apparatus having an ultra-wideband communication device. An area-affiliated narrowband communication device checks for presence of the hearing apparatus, which likewise has a narrowband communication device. Upon detecting the hearing apparatus, an ultra-wideband communication connection between an area-affiliated ultra-wideband communication device and the hearing-apparatus-affiliated ultra-wideband communication device is established. An admission authorization associated with the hearing apparatus is checked for and the ultra-wideband communication connection is a basis for ascertaining a distance of the hearing apparatus from the restricted-admission area. If the admission authorization of the hearing apparatus exists and the hearing apparatus is disposed within a predefined distance from the restricted-admission area, the admission restriction is at least temporarily lifted.

    Abstract: A method for operating a smart mobile device. The method includes checking for or ascertaining the presence of a device known to the mobile device by way of a radio module in a locked state of the mobile device, in which manual access to the data content thereof is disabled. In the event that the presence of the known device is detected, an ultra-wideband radio connection is used to ascertain whether the known device is within a predefined distance from the mobile device. The locked state of the mobile device is canceled if the known device is within the predefined distance.

    Abstract: A method adapts parameters in a hearing device. To implement the method, a sensor for receiving ultrasound signals and a signal processing device are used to process the ultrasound signals. As a result of processing the ultrasound signals, parameters are changed in order to adapt the hearing device. The source of the ultrasound signals is a signal transmitter that is devised to output sound signals of different frequencies. The signal transmitter is positioned independently of the hearing device and the user of the hearing device, and transmits the ultrasound signals independently of the user of the hearing device.
