Abstract: A method and system are provided that include features for preventing damage to smart components embedded within or attached to a handle of a cookware placed on a heating element of a cooktop appliance. In one aspect, if the sensed temperature of the handle exceeds a first temperature threshold, an alert can be presented to a user indicating that the handle is located in a hot environment and thus requires relocating. In another aspect, if the sensed temperature of the handle exceeds a second temperature threshold, the power output of one or more heating elements generating thermal energy can be reduced to prevent damage to the smart components embedded within or attached to the handle of the cookware.

Abstract: A cooktop appliance includes first and second heating elements and a controller operably connected to the first and second heating elements. The controller is configured for receiving a signal from a temperature sensor associated with a cooking utensil. The controller is also configured for activating the first heating element at a heating level that is higher than a heating level of the second heating element for a testing period, and monitoring the temperature associated with the cooking utensil during the testing period. The controller is configured for determining that the cooking utensil is located on the first heating element when a value of the monitored temperature is greater than a predefined threshold.

Abstract: A cooktop appliance includes first and second heating elements and a controller operably connected to the first and second heating elements. The controller is configured for receiving a signal from a temperature sensor associated with a cooking utensil. The controller is also configured for generating an electromagnetic pulse with the first heating element for a testing period, and monitoring a voltage or a current associated with the temperature sensor during the testing period. The controller is configured for determining that the cooking utensil is located on the first heating element when the voltage or current associated with the temperature sensor displays electromagnetic interference from the electromagnetic pulse.

Abstract: Modular pure water systems are provided that have a tank and a cover assembly, wherein the tank and cover assembly are configured to removably receive therebetween one or more expansion tubes in a fluid tight manner to allow for selective volume expansion of the pure water system. Also provided are purification media bags for pure water systems that have a shape, construction, and/or material that mitigates the flow of water between the outer wall of the bag and an inner wall of the pure water systems.

The controller is configured to generate a temperature setting. The controller is also configured to activate the electric heating element and calculate a projected maximum temperature. In order to optimize known sweeping brushes in terms of their service life and cleaning properties, the bundle receptacle is fabricated out of an elastic material.

The basket may define a chamber for receipt of articles for washing. The method may include spinning the basket; calculating a torque value; accelerating the basket to an elevated rotational speed; determining an acceleration rate; determining a mass moment of inertia; and adjusting acceleration of the basket.
