  • Publication number: 20130208478
Abstract: A detachable device to convert a laser into a light source such as a flashlight or other illumination light source is provided. An adapter is provided whose output is coaxial to the path of the illuminating beam using rear illumination of the phosphor. A dichroic mirror is used as the substrate to which the phosphor adhered. The dichroic mirror is chosen to have low reflectivity at the illuminating wavelength (typically 445 nm) and to have high reflectivity for wavelengths longer than that of the illuminating source. The dichroic coating may either be on the same side as the phosphor or the opposite side to the phosphor.

  • Patent number: 5939213
Abstract: A titanium matrix composite laminate (42) includes alternating layers of a titanium matrix foil (12) and a fiber mat (14). The titanium matrix foil (12) is formed from a super alpha titanium alloy having a beta phase stabilizer equivalency of at least thirteen. The beta phase stabilizer is selected from the elements molybdenum, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, halfnium, tungsten or some combination thereof. The fiber mat (14) is formed of silicon carbide (SiC) and has a carbon coating. Once a layup (16) of the alternating layers is formed, it is placed in a mold (22). Heat and pressure are then applied in a step called consolidation (40). The result is a titanium matrix composite laminate (42).

  • Patent number: 5095769
Abstract: The invention relates to a safety control device for operator-presence controls, particularly for lawnmowers. The device disclosed comprises a movable control lever (20) linked to a deadman handle (28) by a pin (36) which is movable relative to a guide slot (44). The guide slot (44) has one or more recesses (46,48) which receive the pin (36) to prevent movement along the slot. When the pin (36) is in recess (46), the control lever (20) is locked into an inoperative position. Conversely, when the pin (36) is in recess (48) the control lever (20) is locked into an operative position. The control lever (20) and the deadman handle (28) are biased to assume respective inoperative positions when released.
