Responsive to detecting an event, the second application may notify a user, create a new channel, add a user to a channel, or the like, and/or the second application may take an action to remediate an issue. The first application and the second application and users added to the channel may be associated with a same or different organizations.

The buttons are configured to initiate one or more workflows that perform one or more external or internal operations contextually based on one or more contextual parameters associated with the buttons. When actuated, the buttons call a specific workflow and pass the one or more contextual parameters to the workflow.

After creation, the collaborative document may be shared and permissions may be automatically updated based on the sharing context. Users without appropriate permissions will be prevented from accessing the document.

Upon receipt, from an application in a group-based communication system, of an attempt to access a target internet domain, an application manifest associated with the application is accessed. The manifest includes a list of approved internet domains previously approved by an administrator of the group-based communication system which the application may access. Following access of the manifest, it is determined whether the target internet domain is included in the list of approved internet domains. If the target internet domain is included in the list of approved internet domains, the application is allowed to access the target internet domain. If the target internet domain is not included in the list of one or more approved internet domains, access to the domain by the application is denied.
