Publication number: 20050020969Abstract: An integral data logging system for a jet injector includes at least one electrical switch that changes state (e.g. from OFF to ON) during an injection procedure. The switch(es) are connected to an electrical circuit having a microprocessor, a clock and an electronic memory. When a switch changes state, this information along with the applicable date and time is recorded in the electronic memory. A communications link is provided to upload the stored data to a remote computer for subsequent manipulation and analysis to determine compliance with a prescribed dosing regimen. In one implementation, the injection duration is logged by using a trigger release switch and an end-of-stroke switch. The end-of-stroke switch is configured to change state after the drive bar of the injector transits through the injector tube. The injection duration is indicative of dose amount and can be used to distinguish between valid and invalid injections.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 12, 2004Publication date: January 27, 2005Inventors: John Slate, Michael Burk, Lanny Gorton

Patent number: 5149084Abstract: A stepping exercise apparatus with a motivational display is disclosed. The apparatus has a computer linked with the display and programmed to generate a pair of icons. One icon (the pace icon) represents a fictitious competitor exercising at a target pace, and the other icon (the user icon) represents the user. When the user exercises more slowly or more quickly than the target pace, the user icon moves behind or ahead of the pace icon, respectively. The computer is programmed to accept a user-selected target pace. Thus the user is motivated to improve his performance by competing against the pace icon. The display also contains a progress display indicating to the user his progress toward a target distance.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1990Date of Patent: September 22, 1992Assignee: Proform Fitness Products, Inc.Inventors: William T. Patent number: 5126616Abstract: An ultrasonic air-in-line detection system for use in detecting air bubbles in the fluid line of a disposable cassette mounted on a main pump unit is disclosed which utilizes an innovative construction used to attach electrical connectors to the ultrasonic transducers. Rather than wires, a thin flex circuit having a plurality of arms is used, with the flex circuit having a circular conductive pad located at the end of each arm. A circular segment of conductive transfer tape is used to attach each of the conductive pads to the thin layer of conductive metal located on each side of the ultrasonic transducer.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 1989Date of Patent: June 30, 1992Assignee: Pacesetter Infusion, Ltd.Inventors: Lanny A. Gorton, Michael Burk

Patent number: 5067710Abstract: A computerized exercise cycle is disclosed. The exercise cycle presents an exercise structure having a pair of pedals operable by a user against resistance provided by an adjustable resistance means. The resistance means is controlled by a computer which can be programmed by a user in a user-selected program of intensities to thus vary the resistance intensity over a programmed time duration. The exercise cycle is programmed to display an imaginary speed, a relative resistance level, a time counter or a countdown from a set time, a distance traveled, or a countdown from a set distance, and revolutions per minute. The computer also allows the user to select a target pulse value. The computer automatically adjusts the resistance to cause the user's pulse to approach the selected target pulse. The computerized cycle also allows the user to input background information such as weight, age and sex and to provide Caloric use information based on this background information, resistance values, and RPM's pedaled.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1989Date of Patent: November 26, 1991Assignee: Proform Fitness Products, Inc.Inventors: Scott R. Watterson, George B. Bersonnet, William T. Dalebout, Michael Burk

Patent number: 5062632Abstract: An exercise apparatus with a control mechanism is disclosed. The control mechanism is linked to a bank of horizontally arranged slide potentiometers, which act as user-movable indicators. The user can move these indicators up and down to indicate an ordered set of relative difficulty values. The exercise apparatus, such as a treadmill, is provided with a control mechanism to control the difficulty of the exercise engaged by the user on the exercise apparatus in relative difficulties corresponding to the ordered set of relative values selected. The exercise apparatus is adapted to engage in this ordered set during a chronological set of program steps.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1989Date of Patent: November 5, 1991Assignee: Proform Fitness Products, Inc.Inventors: William T.
