  • Publication number: 20060143110
Abstract: A computer-implemented financial management system provides the trading of securities via a network using virtual currency. A server computer receives buy and sell orders for derivative financial instruments from a plurality of client computers. The server computer attempts to match the buy and sell orders and then generates a market price through the use of a virtual specialist program executed by the server computer. The virtual specialist program responds to an imbalance in the matching of buy and sell orders. The virtual currency accumulated by HSX account holders as a result of successful trading may be converted to another currency, credited towards the cost of merchandise provided through a vendor's web site, etc.

  • Patent number: 7018352
Abstract: A modular ankle-foot orthosis includes a lower leg and ankle support and a plantar foot support. The two components may be secured together to provide more complete support for a patient, as required. The two supports may be attached in various ways, such as a bottom heel clip extending from the foot support component, which secures through a passage in the heel of the lower leg and ankle support component. A tongue extends from the foot support clip, to capture the material at the edge of the lower leg and ankle support passage between the tongue and the foot support plate. The two components are quickly and easily assembled together and disassembled as required, to provide more versatile treatment for the patient. The complete structure, or any components thereof, is sufficiently thin to allow wear within a conventional walking shoe or the like.

  • Publication number: 20050279326
Abstract: A control system for a low cost, light duty combustion engine, where the control system generally utilizes an engine speed input signal and independent operating sequences to determine a desired ignition timing. There are several independent operating sequences, each one of which is designed to optimally control the engine under certain conditions. These operating sequences include a Cranking sequence, a Warm Up sequence, a Normal Mode sequence, an Acceleration sequence, a Come Down sequence, a Recovery Bump sequence, and a Part Throttle sequence. During idling conditions, the Normal Mode sequence uses rapid changes in the ignition timing to maintain the engine speed in a small, idle engine speed range. By utilizing these operational sequences, the control system improves the performance of a low cost, light duty engine across a wide array of conditions.

  • Publication number: 20050154668
Abstract: An estimated spread value is computed that represents a price at which a trader might have been able to buy or sell a spread given the current market conditions of the legs. In particular, when an event occurs in one of the legs, price information is gathered from each of the other legs based on the spread definition, in addition to the defined event, and is used in estimating the value of a spread. According to one feature, the computations may be triggered by any predefined event. According to another feature, the computation may be programmed by a user to tailor the estimation process according to the type of spread being traded. The estimated spread value may be used to analyze spreads, it may be fed to other trading related software tools, or it may be used in charting.

  • Publication number: 20050146061
Abstract: A carburetor has an air intake passage, a fuel passage, a fuel nozzle in communication with the fuel passage and having an opening through which fuel flows, a first valve in communication with the air intake passage and being moveable between first and second positions, and a second valve in communication with the fuel nozzle and also being movable between first and second positions to vary the effective flow area of the fuel nozzle. The fuel nozzle is preferably carried by a tube fitted sealably in a bore being in communication with the fuel passage. The opening is defined by the tube and is preferably elongated, extending axially with respect to the tube. A needle of the second valve moves axially within the tube to variably obstruct the opening to control fuel flow. Preferably, a method of manufacturing the tube utilizes a circular cutting tool which plunges into the tube cutting a slit as the opening having a sharp peripheral edge for atomizing the fuel.

  • Publication number: 20050144112
Abstract: The present embodiments include methods, systems, and computer program products that provide tools for use in any type of electronic trading environment. In one aspect, leaning manager includes software that can be implemented on any type of computer device for tracking and/or coordinating the buying and selling of available market quantities by multiple automated or semi-automated trading tools. For instance, if more than one automated or semi-automated trading tool is leaning on the same tradeable object then the leaning manager may track and/or coordinate such action. The trading tools can use the tracked information and/or the allocated quantities and their prices to enhance their trading strategies.

  • Publication number: 20050102217
Abstract: A trading system is described herein for hosting a collection of one or more electronic exchanges. The collection of electronic exchanges may be made up of separately designated exchanges under one or more authorizing and regulating bodies. The trading system receives from traders bids to purchase and offers to sell a tradeable object listed at one of the electronic exchanges. Then, the trading system directs the bids and offers to the appropriate exchange where the bids and offers may be automatically matched in the corresponding market. The trading system may also be used to take actions in one or more markets that are internal and external to the trading system on behalf of a trader using preprogrammed trading instructions.

  • Publication number: 20050017378
Abstract: A charge forming apparatus for delivering a controlled mixture of fuel-and-air to a combustion engine has a butterfly-type choke valve with throttling capability disposed in an air inlet region of a fuel-and-air mixing passage. Fuel is mixed with air in a downstream primary venturi of the mixing passage. A conventional throttle valve is not disposed downstream of the venturi since the choke valve performs the throttling function. A strong negative pressure produced at the primary venturi, induces fuel flow through a fuel feed passage into the venturi region from a fuel metering chamber of a fuel metering system. The fuel metering chamber is held at near atmospheric pressure when the throttling choke valve is in a closed position for cold-engine starts, or in an open position for running at high engine speeds.

  • Publication number: 20040236258
Abstract: An inflatable support, kit of parts for forming a system for immobilizing a human leg, and a method of preparing an inflatable bag for supporting a human leg. The inflatable support includes a bag that has a single body having a first surface and a second surface. The body of the inflatable bag is made up of multiple air chambers running generally throughout. Portions of the bag between adjacent air chambers of the body form joined regions, such as notches, that allow the inflatable bag to bend to conform to the contours of a human leg. The inflatable bag body has a valve attached thereto so as to allow an inflation medium to pass into one or more of the air chambers.

  • Publication number: 20040167532
Abstract: Cannulas are provided for delivering therapeutic material to a treatment site. The cannula includes a cannula body with a plurality of openings at the distal end, including a longitudinal opening and a plurality of transverse openings that are axially spaced from each other. The cannula also includes a plunger that is configured to be slidably disposed within the cannula lumen. When the plunger is proximally displaced in the cannula lumen, the plunger seals the distal end and deflects the therapeutic material out the transverse openings. As the plunger is proximally displaced within the lumen, the therapeutic material is forced to perfuse out transverse openings located proximal of the plunger position. In one embodiment, the plunger includes an additional pliable sealable member. In another embodiment, the distal end of the cannula body may be implanted by separating the distal end from the cannula body.
