  • Patent number: 4733996
Abstract: The fixture, in a first embodiment of the invention, comprises a flat base having a plurality of mounting holes formed therein, and a platform supported above the base, by a plurality of legs integral with both the base and platform. The base and platform are in parallel planes, and the platform has a guide bushing slidably engaged with an aperture formed in the platform. A lock screw, threaded into a tapped hole formed in the platform adjustably secures the bush in place. Plugs engageable with tubes in the tubesheet are passed into the mounting holes in the base to fix the base securely to the tubesheet, and the bushing receives therein a drill for drilling out a tube, in the tubesheet, which is directly aligned with the bushing. The bushing has an arcuate cut-out formed therein to accommodate the withdrawal of the bushing from the platform, without having to release the plugs, and its replacement by another bushing to facilitate reaming of the tubesheet.

  • Patent number: 4625765
Abstract: In an embodiment shown, the plug comprises a body having a central, threaded bore in which is received the threaded shank of a nosepiece. Jaws are slidably engaged with a ramp surface of the nosepiece for effecting a gripping engagement with the inner surface of a tube to be sealed. The body has an abutment formed thereon against which to receive a compression washer and a plurality or O-ring seals interleaved with other compression washers. The shank of the nosepiece is threadedly movable extensibly from and retractably toward the body by use of a wrench engageable with a hexagonal recess formed in the body-engaging end of the shank. As the nosepiece is retracted, the jaws slide along, and expand upon, the ramp surface. The O-ring seals and compression washers set against the abutment of the body, as noted, and an internally-threaded nut is threadedly engaged with an externally-threaded end of the body which is opposite the nosepiece.

  • Patent number: 4417465
Abstract: The unit comprises a mobile chassis having an enclosure mounted thereon, in which enclosure are compactly and efficiently confined an air-operated hydraulic pump, a water conduit for admitting water to the pump and for discharging pressured water therefrom, and a compressed-air conduit, for admitting operative compressed air to the pump, together with a pressure regulator for the air. The enclosure has a control panel through the face of which are mounted air and water inlet connectors for the conduits, and a water outlet connector. Air and water inlet valves, interposed in the conduits, are also mounted on the control panel, as well as a water discharge valve; the latter is interposed in the discharge end of the water conduit. Finally, air and water pressure-indicators, which communicate with the respective conduits, are fixed in the panel, and a pressure-setting regulator, which communicates with the air conduit, is secured in the panel.
