  • Publication number: 20150192580
Abstract: A method of detecting or diagnosing a neurodegenerative disease in a subject by an immunoassay is provided. The immunoassay comprises obtaining a sample from a subject and assaying the sample for the presence of autoantibodies against certain epitopes of heterogeneous nuclear ribonuclear protein A1 (hnRNP A1). The presence of antibodies against a polypeptide or a fragment of polypeptide having the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10, an epitope within the M9 shuttling sequence and/or an epitope within the RGG domain of hnRNP A1 indicate a neurodegenerative disease in the subject. Methods of treating neurodegenerative diseases are also provided. In one embodiment, the method of treating a neurodegenerative disease comprises administering, to a subject, a composition comprising hnRNP A1, fragments of the polypeptide and/or a polypeptide comprising epitopes within the M9 and/or RGG domains of hnRNP A1.

  • Patent number: 7233682
Abstract: A method and system of security screening of packages before packages are shipped by a commercial shipper. The method and system compares the configuration of the contents of the package when it is packed to the configuration of the contents of the package just prior to placement of the package on a commercial carrier. A first image of the configuration of the contents of the package is created when the package is packed. A second image of the configuration of the contents of the package is created by scanning the package at the shipping station. The images are compared to determine whether the images are the same within preset parameters. The package is segregated if the image differs beyond a preset amount.

  • Patent number: 6721762
Abstract: The present invention provides a computer-implemented method and system for optimally packing a plurality of randomly sized and shaped articles into a container. In particular, the invention determines the preferred packing configuration in a preferred container for packing a plurality of randomly sized and shaped articles in a customer order wherein particular articles in the order have specialized shipping requirements. In determining the preferred packing configuration, the method and system uses criteria based upon particular characteristics of the articles, the cost of packing labor, packing material, and delivery of the packed container. In a particular embodiment, the preferred packing configuration is displayed graphically or as written instructions and the container is packed manually.
