Patent number: 7695816Abstract: A composite article comprises a first layer resulting from the reaction of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a second layer different than the first layer and resulting from the reaction of an isocyanate-reactive resin and a polyisocyanate. Adhesion promoter is dispersed in at least one of the first layer and the second layer. The adhesion promoter comprises a first reactive end group selected from the group of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, an ethylenically unsaturated acrylate monomer, an ethylenically unsaturated methacrylate monomer, or a combination thereof and a second reactive end group that reacts with isocyanate. The adhesion promoter reacts into the first and second layers through differentially reactive groups such that the adhesion promoter is compatible with the first and second layers to improve adhesion therebetween. A method of forming the composite article includes applying the UV-curable composition to the acrylic layer such that the composition is between the acrylic layer and the polyurethane backing layer to enhance bonding between these layers. The UV-curable composition includes at least one monomer which is an ethylenically unsaturated methacrylate monomer, an ethylenically unsaturated acrylate monomer, or both. The at least one monomer has a hydroxy functional group. The monomer is compatible with the acrylic layer and the hydroxy functional group of the monomer is reactive with a polyisocyanate from the polyurethane backing layer. The UV-curable composition also includes a curing initiator that is reactive with the monomer. Patent number: 6752352Abstract: An actuator system for controlling the external fins on a gun-launched projectile to control the flight path of the projectile. These actuator systems include an electric motor having a rotor and output shaft which is driven between travel limits that are less than 180 apart (less than 90 in either direction from a central rest position). Coupling from the motor shaft to the control shaft for the external fins is via a coupling between an eccentric ball on the motor shaft and an eccentric receptacle member on the fin shaft. As the angle of the motor shaft varies, the eccentric ball slides in a slot in the fin coupling member, causing the fin shaft angle to vary correspondingly.
