Abstract: A medication container can include a frame, a drawer including slots, at least one of a first set of one or more sensors and a second set of one or more sensors, and an electronic transmitter. The slots in the drawer can receive cartridges containing medication. The first set of sensor(s) can detect whether the drawer has moved more than a preset distance into or out of the frame. The second set of sensor(s) can detect whether a cartridge has been removed from a corresponding slot and/or the contents of the cartridge. The electronic transmitter can transmit data characterizing at least one of whether the drawer has moved more than the preset distance into or out of the frame and whether the cartridge has been removed from the corresponding slot to a server computer via a communication network. Abstract: An apparatus can include a container that is configured to be closed with a cap and a cartridge for housing medication configured to be inserted within the container. The cap can include a cap sensor element configured to detect whether the container has not been activated within a predetermined period of time. The container can generate an alert based on the cap sensor detecting whether the container has not been activated within the predetermined period of time and whether a preset quantity of medication has not been withdrawn from the cartridge at a preset time.

Abstract: An apparatus for medication management. The apparatus includes a housing for a packet of medication, a sensor coupled to the housing for sensing whether the packet has been removed or is likely to have been removed from the housing, and a transmitter for wirelessly transmitting data regarding a reading of the sensor to a remote computer. A system for medication management communicates with the apparatus for medication management is provided. The remote computer is configured to send an alert to an external device, and the alert is based on the reading of the sensor. Also, an apparatus for medication management includes a housing for medication, and a sensor for sensing a quantity of medication within the housing. The sensor includes a plurality of conductive electrodes arranged in an interleaved pattern, and provided in a substantially horizontal position.
